Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Potable water is available as well as a portable toilet. For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a good size in fire grill. With the grill, you will have tongs, a spatula and a grill brush. A fire extinguisher and a shovel. And then every site but 7 has an additional large grill mounted for the larger cooking. The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. They converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch. We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 3 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion. We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others. I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You are helping to make that possible. We do pride ourselves on minimally impacting our land. We strive to keep it clean and as close to nature as we can. If you come in the summer prepare the morning coffee early and enjoy the desert sun's rays hit the Capitan, but by 9am it will be hot, so be ready! Best star gazing and satellite watching in the world! I have several sites to choose from. But remember to keep an eye on the wind and weather as it can get crazy out here sometimes…..!!! I try to keep the sites stocked with firewood, but fill free to bring your own. Lonely Bull Camp 1 is my most popular site. It is very private and is easily accessible by most vehicles and campers. Ask about Lonely Bull Camp 4x4 if you have a capable vehicle. Amazing stars!! Old Highway Camp is a great alternative if you want something closer to the highway and have a safe private place to pull over, camp, kickback, make a fire and get back to your life on the on the road in the morning. It is closer to the highway, but is quite at night and has great star gazing. Enjoy being greeted by The Mountain in the morning. River Sanctuary by Ojo Hot Springs

This site can only be reached by foot across the river via stumps- a car can be parked near by.. approx. 50ft. I also have a Vintage Camper that can be heated, has a kitchen, electricity and plenty of outdoor furniture with a fire pit and serene mountain views. As well as a monastic and very grounding Ensuite Bedroom, or a simple campsite if you want to bring your own camper or tent. All facilities have access to a guest bathroom inside the main house. I offer dog sitting while you soak at Ojo, healing modalities that you'll find in the Extras section, and my dear neighbor Jackie takes appointments for massages with homemade essential oils. +++ 6 miles to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs. There you will find the best restaurant in the area, with locally/organically farmed produce. The land is naturally and beautifully wild- it is not a manicured campsite. The dirt rd down to the property is best suited for higher clearance vehicles, but is manageable for city cars. With land by the river comes the mosquitos- June to August only. They are predominantly active during sunrise and sunset; long loose fitting clothes and a repellent work great. Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away. *No cell service in the greater area. WiFi reaches around the house/deck and allows for WiFi Calling: that’s a setting in your phone that enables phone calls & texts beside usual internet access.

My dad first came to this property as a farm hand for the elderly couple who owned it. This was in the 1930's. He met my mother, who lived 6 miles down the road, in 1939. She was just 14. Every Sunday he would ride those 6 miles to have supper with her and her family and in 1940, 2 weeks after her 16th birthday, they married. They traveled around before coming back here, buying a small portion of this farm from the elderly owners and farming the rest for them, but in 1953, the man died (his name was Ernest Ward) in the small concrete house I now use for storage, that my dad had built for he and his wife when he first came to work for them. My parents built a home for his widow in Hatch (14 miles) and bought the farm from her. My family has owned it since. I was gone for 31 years, but returned to the land and place I love and plan to stay here till I die!

Two Hawk Ranch

Two Hawk Ranch is comprised of 12 acres of high mountain valley meadows, hay fields, Acequias, trees and the Rio Chiquito. Yes, we are located at approximately 7,800ft elevation. My husband and I stumbled across this beautiful and serene property by accident in 2020 just as Covid hit. We feel blessed to be here and feel the need to share it’s calming, restful qualities. We have three adult children and have three grandchildren. We also have eight international children as we hosted international students for four years. You are welcome to come sit by the fire and be social or just do your own thing. Learn more about this land: Sites located across the property for up to 8 groups. The RV camping is located near one of our horse corrals and above our irrigation Acequia, above or next to the house, or in the field down by the arena after haying is complete (usually after the first week of July as long as the rain cooperates). Can back in or pull through and has 110v power nearby. No water to hook up to, but we can fill your tanks via hose by the house or arena. Other sites available if you don’t need power, or have a generator. Property is within a 100yds of national forest service that gives access to off-roading, hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing, and winter snowshoeing, cross country skiing, etc. We are located just off the High Road to Taos in Llano, 29 miles south of Taos and 55 miles north of Santa Fe. We are eight miles from Ski Sipapu and eight miles from Rio Santa Barbara Canyon. Your well-behaved pets are welcome. We also have one great dane (Raggy), a great dane mix (The Morrigan), one ranch cat (Sasha) and four horses (Gentry, Shadow, Mattie & Jr G). The dogs are a rescue of some kind. The Morrigan is black, 3.5 yrs old and comes out of a rescue in AZ. She went in with her litter as a 5 month old puppy, and she came here about a year later. She is reticent and suspicious, so ignore her and she will come up to you on her own; continue to ignore her. Ragnar (Raggy) is our most recent rescue and is from Las Cruces. He's 3 yrs old and a merle. He suffers from anxiety and fears children. We are working him through his fears, and he is doing really well. The weather here tends to run cooler, as we are located in the mountains in a small valley at approximately 7,800 ft above sea level. In the spring through fall, temps will average from mid 40°F up to mid 60°F at night and mid 60°F up to mid 90°F during the day. Temps can get into the 100°F's in the summer, but that is rare. Generally if the sun is out, it is warm or hot even tho the actual temps are not. It's a high-altitude affect. The opposite is true as well. Cloud cover will feel cooler. We also experience monsoon style rains that occur in the afternoon generally starting in July and running into August or later. In the late fall through early spring during winter, the average temps usually run from 0°F up to mid 20°F at night with occasional dips into negative temps and in the day generally run from mid 20°F up to the mid 40°F range. Same as above - if the sun is out, it will feel warmer, etc. We do hay the fields, so we may have tractor activity going on in the late spring and early summer. In the winter we will be clearing snow from the roads and feeding hay. Can't wait to see everyone this year!

Ranch was the second largest Cattle Ranch in American history. In its heyday around 1900 it was over one million acres. Today the cows are gone, along with the vast tracts of land and the cowboys that managed the herds. The Lyons and Campbell Ranch Headquarters remains as a time capsule of an era past. The extensive adobe compound includes the 27 room adobe mansion of Cattle Baron Tom Lyons and his wife Ida Campbell, along with the fabulous Old West Saloon, Jail, post office, bunkhouses, Theater and Chapel. In the summer months enjoy the great swimming pool, and in the spring and fall enjoy the Mimbres design hot tub. Our RV sites are closed in the winter, but our Airbnb apartments are closed in January only. The Theater has just added a video cinema system to its live performance capabilities. Think "movie night". There is a lot of history here, and for just $10/person you can take the 2 hour tour of the historic grounds. The L.C. Ranch is located in the tiny village of Gila, just 30 minutes from Silver City, right off U.S. 180 on NM Hwy 211. This massive 60 room adobe compound dates from 1810, is one of the oldest houses in the southwest and was a million acre ranch, the second largest in America back in its heyday from 1880 to 1920, and includes a museum, theater, Old west Saloon, Chapel, jail and two apartments "Inn at the L.C. Ranch" in Gila, NM, available for short term rental on a!rbnb. 5 RV spots with full hookups, AND Wi-Fi. 20 or 30 amp, are $40 per night for up to 2 people. 50 amp for $50 per night. Additional guests are $10 per night, and up to 6 people per site. Hook ups include sewer, electric, WiFi and water connections, and access to the swimming pool, Hot tub, Old west Saloon and Gallery. Two night minimum. Swimming pool is open May thru September, Hot tub is currently off-line due to rennovations. NO FIREWORKS! Please! We are relaxing our fire ban to allow charcoal or gas BBQs, and fully screened portable fire pits, if it is NOT windy. We do not supply these. There is plenty of firewood here, but you will have to cut/break it to usable size. Please be careful. The authentic old west Saloon, Historic Main House, Theater, Gallery, Jail are all available to tour, and for workshops, retreats, Weddings, groups etc. The two hour guided tour of the museum in the main house, the "adobe mansion" of Cattle Baron Tom Lyons, is $10 per person for RV guests. The swimming pool and Lanai are located near the Sunset Site, RV Site #3. It will handle any size rig, 65'+, 20/30/50 amp. Big fifth wheels, Class A or C Motorhomes, no problem. It is our only pull through site. The Lanai by the pool has BBQ, pizza oven, sink, refrigerator, music, games, croquet, darts... Site for Sore Eyes, #4, is a smaller site with 20/30 amp electrical service. It is a "back in" site suitable for Class C, CamperVans, and smaller travel trailers. The other two RV spots are a short walk away, about 150 feet. Site #2, Gemini Site is good for up to 65', pull in, perfect for any size Motorhome or big rig, 20/30/30/20 amp with a unique double rig pedestal that allows a second 30 amp rig to hook up at your descretion. It also has its own shaded picnic area and picnic table. 4" sewer connection. Site #1 has a full tree canopy over head, perfect for Class C or Travel trailers. "Back in" site, 20/30/50 amp, water, 4" sewer and wi-fi. The Mimbres design hot tub is located in the bath house between the two RV locations. It is wood-fired and available on request. (currently off-line due to rennovations) It takes all day to heat it up and it is NOT recommended on windy or freezing nights as it is quite exposed. There is also a bathroom with flush toilet at the pool, along with fridge, BBQ, Wood fired pizza oven, misters and bar in the Lanai, and a guest laundry with an indoor shower nearby in the Spanish courtyard. There are additional bathrooms in the Saloon and the Theater. Karaoke at night in the old west Saloon used to be a regular occurrence on weekends before covid, let's see if we can get that going again this summer. The Saloon is equipped for live music as well, with guitar and bass amps, P.A. and electronic drum kit. The Saloon as well as the entire property is BYOB. The Saloon is not open to the public and has no liquor license. We like it this way. Wi-fi is available at all our RV sites, and is best in the Saloon and Gallery. We have just installed new Wi-Fi extenders. Cell phone service is sketchy, some people with Verizon or T-Mobile get service. It's best on the observation mound. Discounts for longer stays...

Cienega Arroyo Ranch

On a working ranch, this campsite is located up a secluded arroyo off of the Hondo Valley and Rio Ruidoso in San Patricio, NM. This ranch is nearly 1400 acres total that is available for exploring and wildlife watching. During wildlife watching, it is possible that you could see roadrunners, squirrels, coyotes, rabbits, hawks, deer, elk, lizards, foxes, and many different types of song birds. A road south of the campsite is available for hiking down.Ruidoso and Ruidoso Downs are just over a 20 minute drive from this campsite. Historic Lincoln and Fort Stanton are a quick drive from this area as well. The Hurd Gallery can be visited by driving down the highway a couple miles. A fishing spot open to the public on the Rio Ruidoso is available for fishing just a few miles down the highway as well. It has been reported that this arroyo contained a cienega many years ago which was a marshy area fed by a spring, before groundwater wells ran it dry. Most cienegas are now extinct in the southwest. Sheep and Firewood were the main commodities produced off of this ranch before cattle became dominant. NM State Land is 640 of these acres which requires an annual permit for recreational use.

Travel Queen Camper / Parking Spot

The Travel Queen camper is great for car and van campers who want a little more space, a kitchen and a compost toilet. An adjacent spot is good for parking a Sprinter or other van or small RV. Cool shade in the Summer afternoons and dry and warm in the Winter. Enclosed dog yard with dog house! Safe and dog-friendly with afternoon shade. the adjacent parking spot is about 20 ft long and 15 ft wide, and is next to my live-work space. There is a small fire pit and propane BBQ in the enclosed yard (bring your own wood for fire pit, and matches). Sometimes, you can hear the sound of dogs from the dog shelter a 1/2 mile away and who knows maybe one will call you over for adoption ;-) Otherwise It's fairly quiet at night. No tents or trailers please. There is nightly music at the Sagebrush Inn and good restaurants nearby. It's a 25min drive to Taos Ski Valley.

Starseed Sanctuary

I have oner half acre of land that is open for camping and Air BNB options. The view is amazing, and you can see the Sandia Mountains and the Albuquerque Balloons in the distance. There are neighbors at a distance away which leaves the space private and peaceful. The morning birds are lovely to hear. The sunsets vary each day with vibrant colors and the sunsets are just and grand. Fires are okay if the wind is low or in a contained area. There is wildlife such as owls, crows, hawks, squirrels, chipmunks, deer, badgers, snakes, coyotes and more. The property is not fenced in so you do not want to leave any food out at night if sleeping in a tent. I live a short distance away and I am available if you need anything. The entrance is on Jupiter and Torcido, and that will take you to Venus. Once on Venus, that road will wind around to the camp site. Park anywhere you would like. No human traffic goes through that area. Pick a spot and enjoy! There may or may not be other campers, but so far, it has been pretty quiet around here. Water refill station is not far and available for public use. You will have to sign up for a city water account to fill water. That is free to sign up, and you do not have to be a local. Anyone can do this. The water is one cent per gallon.

Overview

In the southwestern US, New Mexico offers a distinct vibe not found elsewhere in the country, or even in the region. Central and North Central New Mexico

New Mexico's Central and North-Central regions are home to many of the state's most popular cultural attractions, and both Albuquerque and Santa Fe are here. Area highlights include Bandelier National Monument and Petroglyph National Monument, as well as numerous pueblos. The most famous of these—the Taos Pueblo—is a UNESCO World Heritage site that has been continuously inhabited for over 1,000 years.

Northwest New Mexico

Cultural attractions abound in Northwestern New Mexico. Highlights include the Zuni Pueblo and the Acoma Pueblo—both the Jicarilla Apache Nation and the Navajo Nation call this region home. Other points of interest include the Chaco Culture National Historical Park, Aztec Ruins National Monument, and El Mapais National Monument.

Northeast New Mexico

Situated where the Rocky Mountains give way to the Southwestern plains, this area is characterized by prairies, ranches, and Western charm. Popular historic and natural attractions include the Fort Union National Monument and the Capulin Volcano National Monument. Conchas Lake State Park and Ute Lake State Park offer ample opportunities for fishing, boating, and lakeside camping.

Southwest New Mexico

For a Wild West experience, head to the southwestern corner of the state. Here you'll find plenty of old ghost towns, historic mission communities, and pristine natural areas. The area is also rich with hot springs, particularly in the low-key spa town of Truth or Consequences.

Southeast New Mexico

Culture, history, and the great outdoors converge in southeastern New Mexico, home to both of the state's national parks (White Sands and Carlsbad Caverns) as well as a host of museums, from the New Mexico Museum of Space History to the Billy the Kid Museum in Fort Sumner. Fans of the paranormal won't want to miss Roswell, the site of the famous Area 51 UFO sightings and a de facto pilgrimage site for all things alien.
