Lake Georgia-Sue is an 85 acre oasis of relaxation and fun. We are located in East Central Kansas, not far from Kansas City, Topeka, Lawrence, and Wichita. The lake itself is 8 acres, with a lot of fish, swimming, small craft boating, kayaking, and wind surfing. The property has numerous sites where you can private pasture your horses, work them in our private round pens, and trail ride them in the hundreds of miles of trails that intersect the property. These are VERY large and private campsites with no nosey or loud neighbors. Sites are for primitive camping, RVs needing electric hookups via available generators, fresh water. Lakefront sites or forest sites are available. Showers, toilets, AC Clubhouse, playground, ponies, pet pigs, goats, and chickens. Pet friendly. Group camping for up to 25 people. Great for weddings, birthdays, etc We are just a short drive from four larger state lakes. An abundance of good restaurants are just ten minutes away, and sometimes we take a trail ride to eat Mexican or BBQ in the village close by.

Our Little Grove

7 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents5 acres · Lindsborg, KS
Our delightfully funny 5 acre farmstead was built by Swedish Pioneers in 1876 and we pioneered our Hipcamp on 18 June 2023. We have a variety of spaces for vehicles, tents and small campers midst leaning trees and funky old farm buildings. Rustically quaint and uniquely primitive, we are. Three friendly dogs, two sheep, one goat and shy cats. Well water via hydrant and drinkable water available. Access to electricity if you have an extension cord. Lots of campfire wood to use and take. The Milky Way on a clear night. IN A NUTSHELL - SMACK IN THE BELLY BUTTON of the U.S.A. and only 30 minutes from the intersection of INTERSTATE 70 (goes east-west) and INTERSTATE 135 (goes north-south) - VERY SAFE and especially comfortable for those traveling alone - PARK AT YOUR CAMPSITE - Most campsites are in one acre paddocks surrounded by 5 foot fencing so humans and pets can RUN WILD AND FREE - We need more details than most Hosts to prepare, esp. updates of arrival time and friendliness and fun level of kids and dogs. - MEADOWLARK BIKE AND WALK TRAIL within walking distance from your campsite - Only 3 miles into Proud Swedish LINDSBORG with homemade ice cream, funny events, lotsa art, shops, strong Swedish coffee and a DINOSAUR SIZED DALA HORSE DETAILS We are a safe spot to take refuge for a night… a week… a month. We are in the belly button of continental USA. Dolly Goat believes we are “Delphi”, the Center of the Universe. We have been popular with solo travelers and campers traveling across the country - the San Diego to New York and Alabama to Wyoming types. Of course, we are a reprieve to anyone needing a break from the outer world. WE ARE ART AND KINDNESS IN PROGRESS. We are eager to be nicely organized, but are discombobulated rookies so a sense of humor and flexible joy for creative chaos will help give you a funny little farm experience. (More apt, Funny Farm Experience). GREAT THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU ARE HERE LINDSBORG has a population of 3,200, but has White’s Foodliner, a great grocery store with a Swedish aisle, National Geographic Photographer at Small World Gallery, a pharmacy and a CASTLE up the road. LOTS of events. See https://www.visitlindsborg.com/ and Lindsborg sites. CORONADO HEIGHTS is our local castle where you can picnic and watch the sun rise or sun set with a 360 degree view of central Kansas countryside. Its only a 15 minute drive north from Our Little Grove. See https://www.visit lindsborg.com/Coronado-heights MEADOWLARK TRAIL is a nicely groomed biking and walking trail and is just across the field - you can walk to it from your campsite. LOTSA COMMUNIQUE We need to make sure we are around to open the gate and help setup for an especially pleasant stay. You will receive an automated message that gives basics about 48 hours before arrival. Other upon request texts include EMERGENCY INFO, THINGS TO DO, etc

RV camping in Kansas with campfires guide

Overview

While some travelers might be familiar with Kansas from a drive across its main thoroughfare (Interstate 70), taking the time to venture off the highway can pay off in unexpected ways. Along with open expanses and serenity come interesting landscapes and adventures, with divine camping options nearby. Kansas is home to over 10 National Park Service sites and 28 state parks offering family fun, outdoor recreation, historic sites, and more to explore, while private camping areas include open grasslands, lakeside sites, and forested retreats.

Where to go

Eastern Kansas’s Metro Areas and Lakes

Head out from the state’s main population centers, including Topeka and the Kansas City metro, to find gleaming lakes amid the grasslands. Several popular state parks are found in this region, including Clinton Lake State Park, Perry State Park, and Tuttle Creek State Park. Combine your camping adventures with boating, fishing, and biking.

Hills, Prairies, and Cities of Central Kansas

True to its reputation, Kansas is a land of vast prairies. The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve protects a tiny remnant of the 170 million acres of prairies that once covered North America, and the Flint Hills provide some of the state’s most dramatic landscapes, with jagged ridges rising from the grasslands. For scenic lakeside camping, the Army Corps of Engineers operates campgrounds on Council Grove Lake and the Marion Reservoir. Eisenhower State Park and El Dorado State Park are welcoming options with grasslands and woodlands. Many private RV parks are also found near Wichita and along Interstate 70.

Western Kansas

Dodge City is practically synonymous with the Wild West. Where outlaws fought on dusty streets now stand a number of museums telling wild tales of Wyatt Earp, cattle drives, and bygone days. To explore the landscapes of the high prairies, head to the Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park and the Cimarron National Grassland, which protects over 100,000 acres. Camping in western Kansas includes a cluster of RV parks near Dodge City and other towns in the region, particularly along Interstate 70. Share the land with a prairie dog colony by camping at Prairie Dog State Park or camp lakeside at Cedar Bluff State Park, which has a unique BMX track. Escape the prairies to find Historic Lake Scott State Park, which is home to deep canyons, woodlands, and towering bluffs.
