I write this as I book this site for the third time on my Maui travels. Nina’s Hipcamp is not the cheapest on the island but I can say that the lavatory is clean and you have privacy. due to the acreage and fact that there is only one site on the property you don’t get too much noise aside from the birds and deer. You are close to a road but it isn’t traveled frequently, especially in the evenings. the host is kind and communicative, She does run a few programs on her property but they are all held around midday when I was still at the beach so it was never an issue for me.

1 night at Kaupo Na'au' Kamp

We stayed here the night before we started out sea to summit hike (Kaupo Gap). Perfect location for staging, the trailhead is walking distance from camp! We enjoyed our time.

They went all out for the campers. They have a shower, bathroom, and cabins all in one place.

Weekend Trip to Secluded Upcountry Maui Camping

We booked a last minute reservation for one night in a minivan before heading to Haleakala National Park early next morning. The simple site was perfect for our needs - There was a porta potty and hose. Make sure to park near the concrete barn on the left. We arrived at night and mistakenly went down a steep driveway to the right and had trouble driving back up. Otherwise, the property is nice and easy to find!

I loved campervan camping here!! There was a beautiful sunset happening while I was freshening up in the outdoor shower. Very quiet and peaceful! It was just over an hour to the Haleakalā summit, so I was grateful for the extra sleep before heading to the sunrise!

I recommend staying in one of his cabanas unless you’re camping back by the kitchen. Incredible art on property . A must see if you’re in Kaupo. Beautiful views and lots of art. It was a perfect second night after one night in Hana. Guy was friendly and accommodating.

Guy was great. He changed our camp location due to wind to make our camping experience better. He invited us to a neighbors to watch the sunset. Camping was quiet and peaceful, Guy checked on us multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed, brought us bug spray and other mosquito repellent devices. I would camp here again.

very nice to have a shower with hot water. everything was clean and plenty of blankets even though it was chillier. very nice to have beach towels as well.

The location was convenient to HALEAKALA and to Paia where we ate dinner. The shower was a hot and clean. The bathrooms were clean and well kept. The instructions were right on point to find the house and our camp after dark. Thanks for the space.

Janine is a great human to begin with, and she puts her ideals into practice. I feel fortunate to have stayed on her property for 9 days as I feel like I am part of supporting her dream of reciprocal living with the land. She is very accommodating and receptive to any feedback that might help improve anyone's stay.

What a beautiful campground. The pictures don't do it justice. You have one of the best views of Maui overlooking miles of coastline and a beautiful sunset.

I had a great time with Guy! He’s got a great plot of land that’s in the midst of local homes high in elevation while also being right on the ocean. Guy was a very kind host and wanted to ensure all my needs were met. There are two hammocks ready to relax in & many wee grassy spots for a tent wherever you’d like. There is a fully functional outdoor/indoor kitchen that was pleasant to hang out in. A great spot to bring everything you need while also being offered everything you could want. Mahalo, Guy!

The hostess, Janine, was very accommodating when I needed a last minute rescue because of car trouble and could not make it up Hana Road. She extended her check in time for me and got me all set up for my stay. Enjoyed this unique experience. Love the intent of this property - small footprint. The entire bio-toilet system, which in turn warms the shower, is super cool. Even though the parking area for car camping is RIGHT on the main road that runs up the mountain, it is not heavily trafficked and I found the property quiet, safe and as advertised. Very nice "common room" with bathrooms, shower, sitting area, TV, Wi-Fi and a fridge.
