This remote primitive campground is between Kingston and Compton, Arkansas. in the Ozark Mountains of the Boston plateau. The wooded 15 acres is nestled just above a scenic bluff looking south. You can set your tent on our grassy knoll or find a random spot anywhere under our hardwoods or pines. There is one designated gravel site pad for a mid size trailer. The only roads to Spoken N’ Tru are gravel. I highly recommend taking the gravel route from Kingston. This particular gravel road is 5 miles. If you are pulling a camper this is definitely the best. There is another longer 8 mile option from 412 - south from Dryfork in between Marble and Ozark. The shortest route if from 103 but it has a deep creek crossing and don't recommended unless you have a good 4 wheel vehicle. The best road to Ponca is County Road 1300 which takes you to Highway 43. Please keep in mind that Spoke N’ Tru is a cozy but primitive camping site with no amenities so be ready to check your electronics before heading down our gravel roads. Lastly, please read amenity notes, especially regarding waste.

I was traveling across the country and arrived late at night after a long day of travel, but we were able to still easily set up for the night based on the instructions. We had a wonderful time camping at Highground Camp, everything was clean and well-kept. We had the entire place to ourselves and it was amazing, a much needed getaway from daily life. The look-out is definitely worth the walk down and Sweden Creek Falls was awesome (although it was dry this time of year, still very cool). I had cell reception a lot of the time, surprisingly. 10/10 would stay there again.

Platform 1 was the best for hanging around camp.

This was the perfect place for a quick weekend camping trip! The covered platform site was perfect for shade and keeping things dry. We spent the whole time there at camp sitting around the awesome fire pit and enjoyed the quiet solitude. The sites are all spaced nicely and there are plenty of trees for shade and hammocks. The short walk to the waterfall and overlook was definitely worthwhile. It was great to have a hot shower too! There was no cell service which was actually pretty nice but do plan accordingly. Also bring more water than you think you’ll need.

This spot is something truly special. The bluff, the quiet woods, and the feeling of total seclusion made it one of the best camping experiences we’ve ever had. The stars were incredible at night, and the fire pits added the perfect touch. Plus, it’s not too far from Hawksbill Crag, which made exploring the area even better. This was one of the most beautiful camping spots I’ve had the pleasure of using. It’s located in the Wilderness Rider Buffalo Ranch & Adventure Park so you can look at the camping spots online. I did not know this but in calling, Rick guided me through the whole thing with so much patience. We ended up at Sunrise Knoll and it was incredible! Great stone fire pit, 360 view of the hills and valleys, 30 yds from the outhouse. We had neighbors but couldn’t see or hear them. Dogs had the best time running around and the stars were out of this world. Even saw the buffalo when leaving the park the next day! We will be back and can’t wait to try a different spot to experience even more of this treasure. Can’t recommend enough
