Keep it simple at this peaceful and conveniently located property. Sandstone Rustic Retreat is less than 2 miles from downtown Wisconsin Dells. This secluded 6 acre property is nestled on the quiet backwaters of the Wisconsin River. Featuring a 150 ft of spectacular waterfront, 80 ft of dock, and 225 ft of raised walkway through the fern and moss filled sandstone canyon. Our recently remodeled 1 bedroom cabins offer a cozy space to reconnect, relax and make lasting memories, while our glamping domes allow you to live in nature. Our property is comprised of 6ac of land on the Wisconsin River...we have a cornfield to the North, a seasonal cabin to our South the river to the East and a road and natural area to the West. We are 1.8mi from downtown Wisconsin Dells. Our property has 4 glamping domes, 4 cabins, perfect for couples and friends to come to the same place and have their own accommodations, 1 cottage with 2 queen beds, a Gathering House (Converted Tavern) social area, that is set up as an intimate and cozy atmosphere (think speakeasy), a 24x24 covered deck and 24x10 patio area. Follow the trail down the hill towards the river and you'll find 225ft of raised walkway through a natural Sandstone canyon that arrives at our private 80ft dock on the riverfront. You'll find excellent walleye, muskie and sturgeon fishing as well as carp and catfish sheep's head and a bounty of other stuff to catch along with scenery that will make you fall in love... The views from the dock are the crown jewel of the property. We offer a central charcoal grilling location by the Gathering House. We have a fire pit in the space beyond the covered deck and plenty of wood to burn on site. Each glamping dome also has it's own fire pit. Our goal is to host couples, small groups of friends, family or coworkers and provide a space to disconnect from technology, connect with each other, share some unique experiences and make amazing memories you and your loved one/s, you're closest friends or coworkers will look back on for years to come. We also offer: Private Bartender for groups of 8 or more(beats an Uber and rambunctious crowds and high priced drinks downtown...and definitely better than a OWI/DUI on the way home) Private Catering/Meal Plan for groups of 10 or more (We have relationships with several catering companies in the area and they will do a meal, a reception or even a private dinner) Ski-Boat Rental (with Captain...We have 1st hand knowledge of the river, keep you safe and make sure you have fun on the water without an unpleasant donation to the areas finest...the Wisconsin DNR Kayak Rental ($40 for 4 hours, $50 for the entire day)THE DOME EXPERIENCE Staying in a dome immersed in nature is an experience like no other. As you step inside the dome, you are immediately greeted with the feeling of warmth and comfort as you look out to the breathtaking views of nature. The dome itself is cozy and inviting, with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. A comfortable bed, nightstands, a seating area, small refrigerator, coffee maker and a "Dome-a-Loo"(portable toilet upon request) are all thoughtfully arranged within the dome's circular walls. This dome is set at ground level and just outside your door you have a private fire pit and chairs to enjoy a warm fire and relax with a beverage. Your full size bathroom is just a short walk up the pathway. As night falls, the dome takes on a magical quality. The sun casts a warm, golden glow over the landscape, creating a sense of calm and tranquility. The starry sky is visible through the dome's skylight, and the peaceful sounds of nature continue to lull you into a deep sleep. Your site is also a short walk up the pathway to the Gathering House. This is a common area for our guests to relax and hang out.

The domes were such a unique experience. The snow falling and being in the woods felt like you were in a snow globe. The property is so beautiful. We loved the walk to the water and the hiking path on the property. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a getaway to disconnect!

My husband and I loved our overnight! It was such an AMAZING experience! The domes are so clean, cute and comfortable! The views are awesome.... and our hosts are even better! So welcoming, friendly, really the cherry on top of an already amazing experience! We cannot wait to return!

An unforgettable experience!

I surprised my out of town company with a Glamping experience; how fun would it be to “rough it” for a night? The welcome tour by Tanya and Cale is like being on a really cool infomercial with a “but wait, there’s more” moment happening as they lead you through the no small detail was overlooked property. The Gathering House is warm and inviting. The Domes while small feel spacious, are climate controlled, individual fire pits and are perfectly spaced ensuring every guest has privacy and a magnificent view! The path to the river is almost as breathtaking as the dock on the river itself, and BONUS their property has been treated to minimize the mosquitoes! I could go on, but this is really something you need to experience yourself and I will maybe see you there as we will be back!

Glamping Domes are a must!

Tanya is friendly and shared the story of how the glamping domes became her passion. The glamping dome we stayed in was incredible! We were there during a thunderstorm, which was calming to listen to while we relaxed inside the dome. This is a perfect place for couples to sneak away, to enjoy each other. This is my new favorite place in wisconsin! I highly recommend that you stay in a glamping dome. Even if you are single, go solo, I definitely would. The domes are a great escape from life, when you just need a break!

An absolute gem!

I stayed at the Sandstone Rustic Retreat the last night of my week long road trip across the country. To say I was thrilled when I arrived would be a massive understatement. I was greeted by the owners and their two sweet pups on arrival. We had an engaging conversation about the history of the property and how they came to create this beautiful sanctuary. The dome had every amenity you could imagine to create a comfortable stay. Extremely clean bathrooms and showers were also just steps away. A short walk to the river led to a gorgeous dock where I had many peaceful moments to dip my feet in the water. Since arriving back home, I've been raving about my stay here to friends and family, and I cannot wait to visit again and bring others! Thank you, thank you!
