This 30 acre property has been in the family for over 35 years and is where I lived my childhood. Now we are running a self-funded Horse Sanctuary and offering camping in a rural setting just a 2.5km drive from the township of Lowood. Our Land for Wildlife registered property has over 30 species of birdlife and many native animals including kangaroos, koalas and echidna. Stunning sunrises and sunsets and all within walking distance of Lowood shops along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail which stretches for nearly 1km along the boundary. Situated halfway between Fernvale and Coominya makes this an ideal stop on your BVRT adventure or is ideal for a quick getaway being only an hour or so from Brisbane CBD. There are 2 sites which are private from each other. ++ The property is accessed by a rough dirt track that is 4wd accessible after heavy or prolonged rainfall due to wet muddy ruts ++ ^^ You must be self-sufficient and bring your own portable toilet/bucket toilet, and all waste and rubbish must be taken with you ^^ ** Please consider a donation to our horse sanctuary - even the smallest amounts help towards horse feed, vet visits and general care 🐴🐎 Many of our beautiful four hooved family would not be alive without people like us who come to their rescue **

Nestled close to Brisbane, this campsite offers a serene escape with vast open spaces and friendly horses that seem to charm every visitor. Campers rave about the proximity to the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, making it an ideal spot for biking or walking without needing to drive. While the site is generally praised for its tranquility and natural beauty, a few visitors have noted that the track can become challenging after rain, requiring a 4WD. Despite this, the excellent communication from hosts Lynette and Lauren ensures that arrivals and stays are smooth and enjoyable.

Dam View

We enjoyed our time at the Dam view with the sounds of nature and our visits from the horses were a treat. A sign would have helped pointing you in the right direction but once found we enjoyed our relaxing time with the dogs who loved swimming in the dam. Would go again!

Beautiful location. Very clean and ample space away from the other camp site. We have made this spot our little 35 min getaway from the city. Horses are friendly and love a feed of carrots.

Lovely spot, Naughty Horses.

This is a really lovely spot. Private and flat and nicely grassed. Bit tricky to get into if it has been wet, you definitely need 4x4 as there are some deep and muddy ruts to negotiate. Only thing to watch is the horses can be overly friendly - we had problems stopping them coming in under our caravan awning in the middle of the night and damaging stuff.

Soooo Relaxing Here

With nice grass, complete privacy amongst the trees and the serenity, this is an awesome campsite for quiet relaxing weekends away. The track in was fine for our 16" semi offroad caravan although just need to keep an eye on the weather as it may become a bit boggy after rain in the rutted low areas. The horses paid regular visits and were very friendly, sometimes a bit too friendly. The host gave us very detailed directions to get into the property and campsite when we arrived late on a Friday afternoon, and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the site to find it clean, reasonably level, nicely grassed and very private with a firepit ready to light and enjoy the amazing sunset.
