Star gazers and solitude seekers rejoice. Your peaceful hideaway with rolling hills, blooming cactus, mountain views, and all the tranquility the high desert is known for awaits. Located just 4 miles off the Turquoise Trail, enjoy 14 acres of private camping and hiking. Convenient and easy driving to both Santa Fe and Madrid, and only 45 minutes to Albuquerque.
Wifi near house. You can chill on the casita patio if you need to check email. Otherwise, be prepared to enjoy being off grid for a minute. (Pretty good cell signal throughout property except at bottom of hill and Arroyo.)This is not a camping site but you are welcome to park here. If you don't mind boondocking you can also choose to park in the field across the drive or up on the field. Right now, we have power issues at this site and are lowering the price as a result. If you have a converter, we can offer power from the house itself; extension cord is recommended. No direct water supply avail but happy to provide water for tanks if necessary. (Well water.) The stars at night are worth the short drive off the Turquoise Trail to the property.
There is a security camera pointed at the driveway installed on the small casita. It does not point at this site.

Motorhome/tent pitch

Toilet available
Composting toilet. Remove all traces of human and animal waste as they attract unwanted wildlife. If you are going to bury it, please do so away from the campsites and Arroyo. NO DUMPING ON SITE - Not from an RV, bucket, portable toilet or otherwise.
Recommendations for burial: A small garden trowel is the perfect tool for digging a cat hole.
Dig the hole 4-6 inches deep (about the length of the trowel blade) and 4-6 inches in diameter. In a hot desert, human waste does not biodegrade easily because there is little organic soil to help break it down. In the desert, the cat hole should be only 4-6 inches deep. This will allow the heat and sun to hasten the decay process.
When finished, the cat hole should be filled with the original dirt and disguised with native materials.
Avoid areas where water visibly flows, such as sandy washes, even if they are dry at the moment. Select a site that will maximize exposure to the sun in order to aid decomposition. Because the sun’s heat will penetrate desert soils several inches, it can eventually kill pathogens if the feces are buried properly. South-facing slopes and ridge tops will have more exposure to sun and heat than other areas.

On leash. Long leashes fine - cactus, snakes, lizards, coyotes are common. Don't let your dog roam free here, for safety reasons, please. An injured pet is a sad panda.

Camping on Tricia's land was a lovely and straightforward experience. There was only 1 other camper quite aways away from us so it felt very private. Sunset was gorgeous and the stars were beautiful! Tricia was very helpful with directions and pictures as well.

This is a beautiful location with several places to camp. Nice views. Very peaceful. Tricia is really helpful and great with communications. Easy drive into Santa Fe. We really enjoyed our stay. We had to stay an extra night due to a big snow storm that hit I-40.

Beautiful sunrise

Very nice little spot, our Rv was on the larger side and still fit. Madrid is a wonderful little town and worth spending a day in. Was only there overnight but the property had a beautiful set up that would be great for a longer stay.
