The property is partly cleared and partly forested and is situated on, and surrounded by, a bend in the Mersey River in the shadow of Tulumpanga (the Gog Range). Stooge Farm is home to abundant wildlife including wallabies, echidna, wombats and a healthy population of platypus which can often be sighted at dusk along the river. Embrace rest, swimming, canoeing, fishing, barbequeeing, bushwalking, birdwatching in the lost world of Stooge Farm Tasmania Only 20 minutes from the lovely regional town of Deloraine where you can stock up on supplies, enjoy a good coffee and the many amenities and historic streetscapes. It is a great launching place for all kinds of nature-based activities such as bushwalking, white-water rafting, rock-climbing, mountain biking and more. Cradle Mountain, the Great lake, the upper Mersey Valley, the Western Tiers and extensive World Heritage wilderness areas are all within an hour or so of Stooge Farm. As well as camping, it is also available to rent for a variety of purposes; as the ultimate fishing retreat, for wedding, birthday and other significant life events, as a yoga, meditation and lifestyle retreat, or simply the ultimate holiday destination. This is such a special place that you really need to come and experience it for yourself to believe it. We await your visit. *Some important notes before you book: - Campers must have their own toilet and must remove all waste and rubbish. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed at all time. - River water is available but drink at own risk. - We recommend a strong vehicle, and a 4WD when towing caravans as the road in is steep. - This is a quiet peaceful place, and to respect the wildlife and other campers we have a strictly no generators, amplified music or unnecessary noise. We will have to ask you to remove your dog if it barks. - Please exercise extreme caution with fires as we are in a high risk area. Keep your fire small and in the fireplaces provided; put your fire out if there is no one attendance. No fires during windy conditions or days or fire ban. It is your responsibility to monitor and assess local conditions and fire regulations.

The property fringes the Dial range nature recreation area and a nature conservation reserve. Camping is on river flats within a lush green ferny forested and sometimes misty valley, below Mt Duncan and Mt Lorymer. Very nearby there are popular hiking and mountain biking trails. Adjacent to the camping area the Leven River has some of the best trout fishing in North West Tasmania. There's places to kayak along with private river beaches to sit and relax, enjoy a paddle, swim or have a picnic. Camping is on river flats, tent's and campervans can settle into grassy clearings within the Wattle's. While larger vans can set up on a larger cleared grassy area. There plenty of open space to throw a frisbee or have a game of cricket. The property is accessed from a very scenic 4 km well maintained gravel road that winds downhill to the base of the the valley. ***Please note there are no facilities. Please bring a camping toilet (there's a dumping point in Knights Rd, West Ulverstone) and your own rubbish collection. Campfires are permitted when there are no local fire restrictions in place .

    Rivers Edge is 24 acres of forest on the banks of the Leven River in Gunns Plains, Tasmania. We are in our own little valley surrounded by tall forests. Preston Creek flows all year through our property and meets the large Leven River where your campsite is situated. Perfect for trout fishing, platypus watching, bird watching or catching the sun setting through the trees on the river bend. There are even the endangered black fresh water crayfish. The site is large enough for up to 5-6 caravans for large bookings, and we only take one booking at a time, so its exclusively yours. We are only 20km to the nearest town, Ulverstone which as everything you need. The road is close by the campsite with easy access to find the property. No toilet facilities at the site. Sat TV is good and limited mobile reception. Telstra works best we've found. River access over a rocky, uneven embankment as it's a natural, untouched environment, just how we and the native animals like it. Campfires ONLY PERMITTED when fire restrictions aren't in place. You absolutely must make sure your campfire is fully extinguished before you leave. Please check "My Trips" (in your profile) for directions once confirmed. Look for the 'Rivers Edge' sign on the entrance gate, then you know youve got the right site and not the neigbours property (which is along side mine on the river) Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept with you at all times, no roaming dogs as the road is close by. We love the peace and serenity here so please no unruly behaviour or parties.

The camping site is located in a beautiful location overlooking the lavender fields, in bloom december/january, with the ever-changing Mt Roland in the background. On days with cold southerly winds, alternative campingsites are available on the farm. Please contact us to find out. Includes use flushing toilet, hot shower and laundry (external access). Approx. 300m from the campsite. We are pet friendly. We've got room for up to 5 separate bookings. Due to shortage of personnel, we can no longer offer the farm tours. Hope this will change coming season 2024/25. But hipcampers are welcome to have a walk on the farm. We are working together with other organic certified farmers. They lease parts of our land to grow vegetables. Hipcampers are welcome to have a walk around their crops as well.     Better signage would be helpful in locating national park ticket office but loved our tour of the caves - Marakoopa was great to see the glow worms and the fern glade walk to the cave entrance was really enjoyable!
