Tours can be arranged at weekends to meet our gorgeous fluffy Highand Cows, mini donkeys, mini goats and alpacas They are all friendly and waiting to meet you. Our guest area offers 2 powered ensuite sites suitable for a caravan, motorhome or camper van; a communal BBQ shelter with dining facilities and our rustic bushman's hut. The bushman's hut is full of country charm and is the perfect spot to gather in the evening for dinner or a game of cards and a nightcap. Set on a hillside in Black Hills overlooking New Norfolk and the Derwent Valley, Heimat Farmstay offers breathtaking panaromic countryside and mountain views. Mount Wellington, the Sleeping beauty range and mountains of Mount Field national park can all be seen from the property. Outdoor Experience: Step outside and immerse yourself in the serenity of our 100-acre hobby farm. Wander through the woodland and let the beauty of native wildlife capture your imagination. The expansive views of the Derwent Valley, combined with sightings of local fauna, create a tranquil and unforgettable experience. Animal Interactions: Farm tours can be arranged at weekends for guests to join us to meet the animals; Our adorable fluffy Highland cows love a good brush and are always jostling for attention, some of them are also keen on treats of apple slices. Our trio of Suri Alpacas are a wonderful blend of goofy and graceful. They will come and say hello and Thunder gives cute 'eskimo kisses' Penelope Jane (PJ) and Duncan are our gorgeous mini donkeys, they are endless fun watching them play and wrestle. They both love a good scratch and cuddles and plenty of human company. Our 3 mini goats Huckleberry, Dudley and Elfie are cheeky little chappies and what they lack in size, they make up for in character. They all like a good head scratch and pat Wildlife Encounters: We also share our 100 acre hobby farm with an array of Tasmanian native wildlife including wallabies, pademelons, possums, echidnas, bandicoots, wombats, quolls and even Tassie Devils. Wedge tail eagles and hawks soar the dams, native hens (turbo chooks!) rush around the paddocks and if you are lucky you may spot a tawny frogmouth sitting on the fence watching for his prey at night. Nature enthusiasts and photographers will find plenty of opportunities to observe and capture the unique flora and fauna of Tasmania.

Heimat Farmstay is a really cute, family friendly spot. The lodging options ranged from a complete indoor cottage, to one of the powered suites we used for our rental van. The suite had a nice shower and bathroom area which was private. The grounds had several outbuildings and a play area for kids. One outbuilding had a wonderful room with a fireplace which we enjoyed on the cool evenings. And the animals were adorable.

Amazing!!!
Best Farm Stay yet! We absolutely loved our time here. Host Gemma had excellent communication the whole way through. Site was very easy to find and level out at. Ensuite facilities were perfect. Then the best part - all the farm animals! We met their beautiful donkeys, goats, baby goats and chickens and we couldn’t get enough of them. They were all very friendly and comfortable around humans. Would stay here in a heartbeat again if we could!

Picturesque farmstay
Gemma was great with communication, and gave us perfect directions. The spot was beautiful and the resident animals were delightful. The ensuite was so convenient and the shower was hot. We loved the bbq area and the communal cabin where we had dinner with other guests and chatted with the fire keeping us warm. We stayed two nights and it was a perfect base for exploring Hobart and surrounds.

A lovely couple of nights!
We had a lovely stay at Heimat Farmstay. Everything was clean and tidy, the sit was easy to find. We loved the privacy and option of communing in the little cottage. We had dinner with a lovely family one of the nights in the little cottage and it was delightful!! Highly recommend!

Review by Teddy (age 6): I loved it and the goats were my favorite animal my second favorite animal was the donkeys I definitely think that the cows were my mums favorite and my third favorite was the chickens and my fourth favorite was the cows.
