Recharge at Heartland, a hidden sanctuary nestled in the rainforest hinterlands of Byron Bay. Immerse yourself in peace and tranquility with breathtaking valley and escarpment views from our North-facing spaces.
15-minute drive from Mullumbimby, and 35 minutes from Byron Bay, Heartland is the perfect spot to explore the inner and outer beauty of nature. The lush terrain seamlessly combines level and gently sloping landscapes, adorned with a rich tapestry of temperate, subtropical, and tropical plants. Our borders extend to Goonengerry National Park, providing a backdrop of pristine wilderness.
Heartland is home to vibrant birdlife, diverse wildlife, and our beautiful horses Astra and Zion. We also have 6 Kenyan Top Bar Bee Hives and have an apitherapy healing bee hut available by appointment—visit peacefulgrowing.org/the-honey-hut to learn more.
Guests can enjoy our sparkling lagoon-style swimming pool, gym, community kitchen, and bathhouse. Please note that there are a couple of permeant residents living on the land and they are private spaces. Heart Hall is the community area for guests to be comfortable in.
We ask everyone who comes to the land to adhere to our 3 agreements.
Care for self, each other and nature. There are basic common sense understandings of how these can be expressed and we encourage our guests to enquire within themselves what it means to them.
This is a peaceful sanctuary and it’s not a rowdy party campsite.
Book your stay and embark on a journey to a truly magical retreat in the heart of Byron Bay's hinterlands.Tallowwood Camp is a peaceful and spacious retreat, accommodating up to 20 guests. Nestled in a stunning natural setting, this campsite offers a perfect escape to reconnect with nature. The terrain is flat and easily accessible by 2WD vehicles, making it an ideal spot for tents, campervans, and small RVs.
Amenities: Toilets & Showers: Composting toilets are located just 20 meters from the campsite, and a shower is available at the main house, approximately 100 meters away.
Important Notes: Quiet Hours: Please respect quiet hours from 8am to 8pm. Pets: Pets are welcome if responsibly managed but must be kept on a leash to protect the local wildlife and land animals. Water & Weather: Unfiltered spring water, safe for drinking in our experience, is available for refilling at the stone bathhouse. Please bring your own water canisters. The weather in the mountains is cooler than by the coast, so we recommend bringing warm clothing, wet weather gear, and gumboots to ensure a comfortable stay.

The campsite is home to a variety of native wildlife and offers ample opportunities for birdwatching and peaceful reflection in nature.
Nearby Attractions: Crystal-clear swimming holes and waterfalls are located nearby and can be accessed through guided adventures with our team. These experiences are offered by our organisation, Peaceful Growing Collective, and provide a unique opportunity to explore the natural wonders of the area.

Our family had an unforgettable stay here - the environment was stunning, surrounded by lush nature that gave us all a chance to disconnect and recharge. Highlight was the amazing walk with Lex to a breathtaking waterfall and swimming spot—truly a magical experience!

Heartland was very easy to find and access to the campground was also easy. Magdalena and Lex were very welcoming and the facilities at Heart House were great. The birdsong was fabulous and I loved that the two horses just roamed around freely. We were surprised how close we were to some lovely beaches and very much enjoyed swimming in the pool.

Truly magical place in terms of location and the most welcoming community of Lex, Magdalena and all their friends who were all amazing hosts. The perfect place to unwind. Great pool to cool down in and charismatic communal area to relax in. Plenty to do in the surrounding areas. We would strongly recommend a visit
