Nestled right beside the Murrundini River, all 3 campsites are beside the river, and well spaced apart for privacy and peace. Campsite 2 (site two) is shady, surrounded by tall swamp gums, black wood wattles and tree ferns. This spot is at its best from late spring through to autumn . Site One is a large flat area beside the river that is good all year round. It has fencing and gates, perfect to let dogs run free without going too far. Site 3 (Craig's flat), is a large open campsite, able to take more camper-vans/ tents with plenty of space. All sites have fire places and gas BBQ's (byo gas bottle) And there are plenty of fish for those that want to try their luck. In response to a recent review, I will point out that the driveway is a gravel farm track, not a paved Freeway. I have had only one complaint about low 2wd vehicles, everyone else seems fine. Contact me before your trip if concerned. The original home stead (built in 1876) burnt down in the 2009 black Saturday fires. There still remains many 150+ year old elms and other European trees near the toilet block, which are delightful in autumn. We have some fantastic views from the hill up and down the Murundindi Valley, especially at sunset. We're located only a few short km's from Wilhelmina Falls and Murundindi Scenic Reserve, you get the best part of the river, without the crowds. We are a short drive from Melbourne, and easy access to the townships of Yea and Yarra Glen for supplies if you need them. Amazing, abundant and rare bird life to enjoy and photograph. (see guests photos). I am hoping to increase the nesting and habitat for as many local birds as possible, which has improved, but can get better with Your help. Not destroying large logs and tree's is first and foremost. But if you are inclined , funds for creating nesting spots are greatly appreciated. You can directly ask for donations to go towards specific prospects/ projects. Tawney frog mouths have loved this site till very recently, without explanation, found two dead in last 9 months, that don't explain how or why. For donations specific to conservation, please contact me direct. With no light pollution this is the ideal spot for star gazing.

A lovely spot on the Murrundindi River. We tucked our van around a corner for added privacy, loved the river side for reading and an icy morning dip! Site 1 is a fenced paddock, great for dogs (a tree had bought down part of a fence so not totally dog proof atm). There is one flushing loo in a purpose built shed (rudimentary but fully functional) about 350 mt walk. Michael was accommodating, communicated well and was very friendly even when one of our dogs called over to his shack for BBQ :) .

Great open space with camping sites spread out which was nice. Fire pit and plenty of wood . Easy to find and Hugh was lovely and friendly and clear communication. Will visit again fir sure.

We spent three nights at Craig's Flat with our three dogs and a camper trailer, and it wasn't enough time! This camp site is so easy to find, at the end of a short road and is a wide expanse that is both private and accessible. While the weather did not permit swimming in the nearby river (ah summer in Victoria!), we loved having access to the stream as well as a vast grassy space for us. A short walk to the toilet block made this site so convenient. We loved our stay and look forward to visiting again soon.

Great spot! Camping on nice grass with shade options. There was a nice walk to some rapids and also water very close by to the campsite. Toilets were clean. Wayne was lovely, gave us an intro to the Bemm area and sold us some wood. We also got to meet their puppies! Merry Christmas

Where to start? Wayne was a great host, very friendly and helpful, and you should ask about buying some venison from the Men's Shed. The campsites are in a gorgeous, quiet spot along the river, and the surrounding region has it all, with the lake and ocean in reach, all teeming with birdlife. You can fish all over the place or simply explore. You can even go kayaking right at the campsite; we loved it and so did our dog. The town is small but it has all you need, and the pub verandah is a great place to kick back on a sunny day.

This was such a great find right by the river! We got to play with the owner’s beautiful dogs and even were able to get some firewood. It was a beautiful spot and would love to go back again :)
