Retreat to Granite Springs Farmstay

6 sites · RVs, Tents80 acres · Chiltern, VIC
Situated in the beautiful locale of Chiltern in northeast Victoria, Granite Springs is located on 80 flat acres with underlying springs and a creek running through the property, and it’s very conveniently situated just a few minutes off the Hume Highway! You can choose to camp privately amongst the native trees or next to the big pond- sit on the jetty and take in the birds, trees and wild life, have a swim to cool down on hot days, toast marshmallows around a campfire, walk along the creek that runs through the property, or just sit by the little waterfall with your feet in the water listening to the water gurgling through the granite stones and allow the stress of life to drift away. Want to go trail riding? Book a site next to the horse safe yards so that you can bring your horse for a weekend of trail riding in the nearby plantations which adjoin the Mount Pilot National Park. Or if you prefer, you can participate in a true farm stay experience! Stay near the original farmhouse, choose a powered site, book a Meet, Greet & Feed tour and join us on a feed run to feed the horses, cows, sheep, goats, chickens and guinea fowl, enjoy watching the baby animals frolicking (depending on when you stay), get up close and personal to pat and feed some of the animals, collect the eggs, see the dairy goats being milked; and if you wish you can book in to partake in an evening bbq meal with us on the deck and enjoy an evening filled with great food, hospitality and laughter. Should you wish to make it an even deeper experience, you could book in for a reiki session with a qualified and accredited Reiki Master (with or without the animals assisting!) or an Equine Assisted Transformation session... this is the perfect location for those who are energy sensitive and who wish to deepen their connection with the land, nature and themselves, or who feel the need for some healing or clearing work. If you wish, you may pre-order a basket filled with a selection of local produce and goodies for your stay (please note that we require 48 hours notice on some basket selections) So many choices, and you can mix and match to create your perfect camping getaway with as much or as little interaction with the animals or other people as you wish to experience! You can even bring your own 4 legged friends- well behaved dogs are welcome provided they are kept restrained at all times. Less than 3 hours drive from Melbourne, the property is conveniently located within minutes of local shops and Chiltern- Mount Pilot National Park, 10 minutes from the popular town of Rutherglen, 20 minutes from the Murray River, Beechworth and Corowa, 25 minutes from Wangaratta and Albury-Wodonga, 40 minutes from Mount Buffalo… this is a popular location to strike out into the high country from and is very popular with cyclists, hikers and nature enthusiasts alike. Hiking, cycling, nature watching, birdwatching, visiting local sites to see Aboriginal Art, panning for gold at local rivers, berry picking at nearby farms, trail riding… there is so much to do and explore in the local area! Or just come to relax, recharge your batteries and spend some time quality time reconnecting with yourself and/or loved ones Please note: * At this stage, you will need to be fully self contained with your own cooking facilities, toilet, shower and potable water for most of the sites. Communal toilet and shower options will be available in the near future. * Some of the camp sites are 4WD ACCESS ONLY If you are unsure which site will be suitable for you, don’t hesitate to contact us before booking to discuss your needs. If you have a tent you will be able to park your vehicle off the street and walk approx. 500m to your campsite, or if you can’t walk contact us to arrange to be transported there via 4WD or buggy. *There will be some areas that you cannot go on the property due to animals being housed there, and electric fencing is used throughout the property. So please read and follow the signs, stick to the areas designated for public use, always use the gates (and if you open a gate, please close it behind you) and be mindful of the fences. If in doubt, DON’T touch the fence! Or if you do, make sure someone is videoing it and please post it on the Facebook page!! NB- If you would like to explore, then please book a farm tour with us to see the whole property and experience meeting the animals up close and personal. * Campfires in the designated fire pits are welcome, but ARE NOT permitted on days of high fire risk or Total Fire Ban days. You may collect twigs and branches from the ground, but please don’t break or cut branches off trees. Bags of pre-cut wood are available to purchase as an extra or upon request. Please ensure that all fires are completely out before leaving them unattended. * While we welcome your furry family members, we do require them to be well behaved and on a lead at all times. We have a zero tolerance policy for dogs chasing farm animals or being excessively disruptive, and any such behaviour will result in you forfeiting your payment and being asked to leave immediately. You are welcome to walk your dog on lead throughout the designated public areas on the property and along the roadside and surrounding trails. If you wish to visit local areas where dogs can’t be taken, you can book your furry friend in to be dog-sat here on the property while you go out exploring. * As this is a farm, and is surrounded by other farms, there may be farm noises like dogs barking, sheep baa-ing , cows moo-ing, horses neighing, Guinea fowl squawking, and/or Belle the Needy Noisy Nubian Dairy Goat calling for her feed (or rug if it’s cold!) We endeavour to provide a peaceful environment, and this is generally a lovely quiet location which more than fulfils our own personal requirements for an undisturbed lifestyle, and will no doubt do so for the vast majority of campers. But we can’t guarantee it will always be completely silent during the day or at night- especially if the lambs or calves or foals are being weaned from their mothers! Ear plugs are available for light sleepers if required. And if you are an extremely noise sensitive person or someone who wants a private camping experience with no noise or neighbouring houses visible, this may not be the right spot for you (if this is you, we would recommend looking for a more remote stay on a large acreage which will provide you with a more private experience) * And while on the topic- if partying late into the night with loud music, a thumping base on your sound system and extremely raucous singing and laughter is your thing, then this is not the right camping spot for you. While we are all for socialising and having fun, if you want to party loudly into the wee hours we would suggest finding a camping spot far away from neighbouring properties where the sound doesn’t carry for miles across the land. Please be mindful of us, our neighbours and others nearby who may be trying to relax or sleep, and keep noise to a respectful level after the sun has set. TIA for your understanding * We want your stay to be relaxing and enjoyable, so please contact us if you need anything or have any issues and we will be happy to help in whatever way we can :)

Seven Hills Tallarook

23 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents600 acres · Tallarook, VIC
Our property, "Seven Hills Tallarook", sits high above Tallarook with deep valleys and high peaks, just over one hour North of Melbourne's CBD. The property is 600 acres of thick Victorian bush and farmed paddocks. We have a wide range of hobby farm animals - pigs, sheep, alpacas, chickens, ponies, a donkey, along with commercial heard of South African Boer Goats. As night falls, the wildlife come out to play - kangaroos, rabbits, deer and wallabies. Internally, we have in excess of 10 kilometers of roads within the property, the majority being 2WD accessible (weather conditions apply). There are parts of the property which are only 4WD accessible. Our campsites are placed to allow you to be as isolated as possible - away from other campers (you may see others as you drive past, or they drive past you). At some of our bush sites, you will be able to see other campers, but they are not close by. Additionally, we have now entered our Fire Danger Period for the 2024/2025 Summer Season. We have not toggled the Fire Ban on as we do still allow campfires, however campers MUST adhere to CFA guidelines at all times. On days of Total Fire Ban (TFB), no fires, including gas stoves can be lit outdoors. Furthermore, we reserve the right to ask you not to light a fire regardless of TFB status if we feel weather conditions are unsafe, especially the wind element. We cannot plan the weather and the request to not light your campfires will most likely on the day and we will advise as such. Our interest is with your safety, our neighbors and our property & family.

Kanukadale Forest River Retreat

9 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents20 acres · Goongerah, VIC
We have 20 acres of lush river flats adjoining the pristine Brodribb River in the Goongerah Valley. Due to the pristine, clean water straight off the surrounding mountains and the rich fertile river flats, early settlers used this place as a market garden to supply fruit and vegetables to the local townsfolk. After our purchase in 2000, we turned it into a self-sufficient paradise, always welcoming visitors to come and enjoy the land with us. Our BYO campsites are near the river where you can reconnect with nature amongst the tall trees. Kanukadale is a working Nature Retreat Sanctuary, so additional to BYO campsites, we also offer our Bell Tents when the retreats are not running. Here at Kanukadale, you will share the space with very friendly horses, ponies, miniature goats and our donkey. The property is child friendly as the boundary, river and paddocks are well fenced. You can do as much or as little as you want during your stay. Be sure to check out our awesome animal focussed activities that we offer here. You can find them under Experiences. You are welcome to bring your own horses and dogs. Dogs must stay on a lead whilst on the property and responsible pet ownership is essential here, as is a respectful attitude towards all the other sentient beings on the property. We do not allow generators here. There is lots to do in the area with heaps of nature immersion. East Gippsland is one of the most bio-diverse areas on mainland Australia. You can explore rare, Old Growth forest, historic gold mines, climb to the peak of Mt Ellery and walk through the Errinundra Plateau. Mountain bike riding, horseriding, 4wd touring and bushwalking is awesome in this area. There is a camp kitchen with a communal fridge, microwave, stove and electricity. There is also a composting toilet and hot shower facilities. There is free wifi. THERE ARE NO SHOPS OR FUEL OR MOBILE RECEPTION. WIFI CALLING WORKS IF YOU HAVE THAT OPTION. THE CLOSEST TOWN IS 50 KM TO DELEGATE OR 70KM TO ORBOST. YOU NEED TO COME COMPLETELY PREPARED OR IT’S A LONG DRIVE TO TOWN. THERE IS A PUBLIC PHONE BOX UP THE ROAD.

Tarwin Lower Eco Studio

17 acres, with 2 cleared, only 3 kms as the crow flies, from the coast. You can hear the surf in the evening. The property is the bush refuge corner of a larger grazing property. Whilst sheep and cattle graze on one side of the fence, the wildlife grazing on "our" side includes echidnas, wombats, wallabies, possums, koalas, and is home to more than 30 species of birds identified so far. Tarwin Lower EcoStudio is not far out of town and the Tarwin River (4 kms), for boating, paddling and fishing. There is an outdoor kitchen, and composting toilet, and our home garden (we live on the property too) is often abundant and the fresh organic produce is for sale for our visitors. We'll transport your gear to your campsite so you can get set up quickly and start exploring the property or just kick back and relax. The three campsites are positioned so that you won't hear a sound from any other campers on the property. You will feel like you've got the whole place to yourself. And even though the campsites are isolated you'll still enjoy the convenience of clean regular flushing toilet facilities. Whether you intend to simply relax and listen to all the birdlife, grab a few drinks and head up to the viewing deck to watch the sunset, or put on your hiking boots and explore the rainforest, whatever you do, you will truly get back to nature. So what are you waiting for, come and hug one of our trees**. * comparison made with zoos that don't have many Australian animals ** please ensure you have the tree's consent first ;)

Farm camping in Victoria with wifi provided guide

Overview

There are so many ways to go wild in Victoria. Fall asleep to the boom of the surf from your beachfront campsite, drive one of the world's most scenic coastal roads, glamp it up in the middle of a vineyard, or touch the sky in the snow-capped high country. If it's animal encounters you like, you'll love the penguin parade on Phillip Island and dolphin swims in Port Phillip Bay, as well as the chance to see koala colonies, mobs of kangaroos, and platypus-filled streams. Plus, the bonus to Victoria is that nowhere is more than a day's drive from Melbourne—many of the best campsites are only a few hours drive from the city—so you can cram a lot of fun into a relatively short amount of time.

Where to go

Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean Road west of Melbourne is one of the world's great scenic road trips, but there’s much more to see and do than snapping a selfie at the Twelve Apostles rock stacks. Zipline above the rainforest in Great Otway National Park, climb lighthouses, watch whales, surf iconic Bells Beach, and pitch a tent on any one of several beachside camping areas. Road tripping doesn't get much better than this.

Gippsland and the Bays

Gippsland stretches east of Melbourne to the sea and north to the border with NSW. Most of the coastline is protected by a string of national parks with fantastic seaside camping spots and holiday parks—and camping at Wilsons Promontory (locals just call it the Prom) on the mainland’s southernmost tip is a must-do at least once. This is also where you’ll find Phillip Island, home to the famous nightly penguin parade.

The Victorian Alps

The High Country is the place to go for winter snow sports and summer mountain bike trails, plus bushwalking. If that sounds too energetic, it’s also home to the Great Alpine Road, one of Australia's best food and wine touring routes (and yes, the scenery is pretty good too).

The Grampians

In the state's west, the Grampians are another mountain playground with a network of bushwalking trails, from quick 2-hour walking tracks to 3-day hikes in the Grampians National Park. This is also where campers can find the highest concentration of Indigenous art in the state. Opt for bush camping sites in the national park or more luxurious campsites at Halls Gap or Dunkeld caravan parks.

Murray Riverlands

Australia's longest river, the mighty Murray forms most of the border with NSW to the north, and all along its length are great beachfront campsites from where you can go for a swim or paddle a kayak, catch a fish, or sit back and watch the world glide by. Elsewhere in the riverlands, ride a restored paddle steamer at Echuca, take a cruise through the largest river red gum forest in the world at Barmah, and dine out in the foodie hot spot of Mildura.
