17 acres, with 2 cleared, only 3 kms as the crow flies, from the coast. You can hear the surf in the evening. The property is the bush refuge corner of a larger grazing property. Whilst sheep and cattle graze on one side of the fence, the wildlife grazing on "our" side includes echidnas, wombats, wallabies, possums, koalas, and is home to more than 30 species of birds identified so far. Tarwin Lower EcoStudio is not far out of town and the Tarwin River (4 kms), for boating, paddling and fishing. Slightly further afield is Andersen Inlet (great fishing, paddling, paddle boarding, boating, and shallow waters for very young children), Venus Bay Surf beaches, and Walkerville South bay beach (with boat ramp). Waratah Bay and Wilsons Promontory less than an hour's drive away. And that's just the water sports. The Great Southern Rail Trail is just up the road, at Koonwarra or Leongatha, and has a range of rides with varying degrees of challenge. The Eco Studio itself is completely off grid, built from reclaimed and recycled materials, as part of our commitment to living lightly. There is an outdoor kitchen, and composting toilet, and our home garden (we live on the property too) is often abundant and the fresh organic produce is for sale for our visitors. PLEASE CHECK the description for further details about what is provided and to indicate if you are bringing your pet(s).Cosy and eclectic off-grid Eco Studio on 17 acres only 3 kms from the coast as the crow flies............. you can hear the surf in the quiet of the evening. Nearby are opportunities for many activities, such as cycling, paddling, surfing, fishing. Or don't go anywhere, and just sit outside enjoying the view in the peace and quiet. Wake up in the morning to symphony of bird calls, or listen to the snuffles and grunts of echidnas, wombats, possums and koalas in the evenings. When available, fresh produce from our organic home garden is available for sale. Cook on the outdoor kitchen with barbecue, gas stove and oven. Or stay indoors and use the microwave, kettle, toaster. Close enough to our home for security, but far enough for complete privacy for us all. Relaxing and comfortable stay
We loved staying in Jo’s studio. It was easy to find and Jo welcomed us when we arrived. The fire heated the whole studio, the bed was super comfortable and the shower was hot! We are earthy folk and we appreciated the eco-conscious design and being off grid. There was lots of info to ensure our stay was comfortable and we will be back again :)

Perfect city escape
Jo and Russell’s land was very peaceful and beautiful. With trails through the native forest on the property, we enjoyed bird song and the occasional kangaroo sighting. The Eco Lodge is the perfect escape from Melbourne hustle and bustle. The fire kept us all warm including our doggy Baxter. There is ample space and the double glazed windows kept the warmth in and allowed continuous closeness to the environment. A short trip to Foster and Inverloch and exploring this lovely part of Gippsland. We be back to visit again, Anaru, Marie and Baxter 👍☀️🙌

Eco studio adventure
Such a lovely place. I was down there with my partner for the weekend, the location of the studio and everything that it comes with made the experience cozy even with the rainy, gloomy weather. I loved the quirky setup of the studio with information on everything that celebrated the local Flora and Fauna, I was never bored while I was forced to be indoors due to the bad weather. The owners are very proud of their humble setup and give you the experience of the life away from the city from the get go. I will definitely be back!

Cozy cabin
I spent a couple of relaxing nights in Jo's eco-cabin. I liked the style of the cabin which uses recycled materials which gives it a great sense of personality, enhanced by home-made quilts and fresh flowers. The cabin is heated by a pot belly stove which went out on my first night, but the double-glazed windows and insulation meant it was not too cold. I made sure I collected plenty of kindling the next morning so I had a good fire the next night. There is an outdoor kitchen which would be great in summer, but I only used the kettle and microwave indoors. The location is good - close to Venus Bay and Wilsons Prom.

Had the best stay at the EcoStudio! Was very cosy and comfortable. Perfect spot to go exploring around Gippsland. Hopefully can come back one day!

Jo’s eco lodge is such a lovely and cosy spot, the lodge itself is full of everything you could need as well as a log burner which kept us toasty all night and the surrounding land is beautiful. We also saw a completely clear night sky full of stars just outside which was a highlight. Jo herself was incredibly helpful and accommodating - I couldn’t recommend it more ! We can’t wait to come back :)
