The Scrub Campsite located in remnant vegetation (14 minutes from Victor Harbor ) is a rustic self check in campsite as the owners do not reside near the campsite.
Campers choose their site in the designated camp spots. Sites are not allocated unless by prior arrangement.
Persons under 18, youth groups, school groups or scout groups etc. are not permitted to book at the campsite.
A communal camp kitchen, water tanks and compost toilet is available for campers use. Fire pits are located at each site. Campers will be advised of fire bans.

We have two different locations available in Kangaroo Island with some options of sites in each.
FIRST LOCATION:
EMU BAY HIDEAWAY-30 hectares of peace, mainly vegetated with Kangaroo Island Narrow-leaved Mallee (Eucalyptus cneorifolia, a nationally-protected ecological community). Kangaroos and wallabies are in abundance. It has a wonderful feeling of remoteness and seclusion yet is so close to iconic Emu Bay.
Those with 4WD may choose sites overlooking Shoal Bay towards Kingscote.
Alternatively, you may set up camp anywhere on the property. There is even one under-cover position with a concrete floor for those concerned about the weather.
There are no amenities so guests need to be 100% self-sufficient (including BYO drinking water and toilet) and leave no trace. It is a wild block and only five minutes from the iconic Emu Bay, where the white sandy beach runs for 4kms, most of which is backed by 10 to 20-meter-high dunes. It is one of the best beaches on the island with crystal-clear water.
SECOND LOCATION:
Farm Stay about 15 km from Emu Bay and 20km from the main town of Kingscote. This is an operating small sheep farm of over 100ha. For security reasons the exact location is not advertised, but will be disclosed upon arrival on Kangaroo Island.
There are several beautiful sites. This location is fairly central to most KI visitor attractions. It is a secure place to set up camp and have peace of mind that your belongings will be safe while you are away from the site. The host takes care to situate sites to give campers the feeling of exclusiveness.
NOTES;
Check with me before lighting a campfire - this depends on the season and risk. Dogs are permitted if well controlled (register visiting dogs with local council).

This is a beautiful, remote, rural 250 acre private property, it is home to a number of sheep, features dams that have Marron and boasts the best that nature has to offer. Rest assured, you will not see any neighbours on this property; just picturesque landscapes everywhere you look! It is approximately a 1.5 hour drive from Penneshaw, where you get off the ferry.
We offer powered and unpowered camp sites, as well as a bush, cabin.
Camp fires (small) are allowed when fire restrictions allow. There is a fire pit that can be used when there is no fire ban, with barbecue plate and camp ovens for old-style bush cooking or cooking up your fresh organic Kangaroo Island Marron.
There is a drop toilet at the back and external lights and an external kitchen sink with hot and cold water.
There is one drop dunny and limited rain water (you are welcome to bring your own drinking water if you need extra).
For your convenience, there are recycling and rubbish bins at corner of Snug and Colman’s Rd for all waste disposal.
On half of our property we have sheep and lambs in the paddocks. Bring your camera, and you just might be lucky enough to see little lambs playing and even being born. We may also be shearing and invite you to see how this is done. The other half of the property is untouched natural scrub with grass and trees 12 foot tall. There are koalas, eagles, kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and lots of other native animals and a creek with small waterfalls. In winter time the ground can be boggy, so a 4WD is desirable and will allow you to explore further.
From the cabin, make your way down past the dams and go through the shiny gate at the bottom of the hill (please close the gate behind you). Here, you'll discover 125 acres of untouched Kangaroo Island wilderness with walking trails to explore. Keep an eye out for koalas, kangaroos, wedge-tail eagles, wallabies, large grass trees etc
We also have two small lakes that you can have a picnic by or drop some Marron nets in for a fresh feed. There are weighing scales provided at the shed so you can pay for them. This is on an honesty system- so please do the right thing, as we have already been burnt from the fires. You must contact me if you wish to fish for marron prior to catching any.
There are no shops or restaurants close by (stock up before arriving!) and you will need to travel down dirt roads but you will really have the opportunity to get off the grid, get back to nature and make memories in the stunning, untouched, Kangaroo Island wilderness!

The Scrub Campsite located in remnant vegetation (14 minutes from Victor Harbor ) is a rustic self check in campsite as the owners do not reside near the campsite.
Campers choose their site in the designated camp spots. Sites are not allocated unless by prior arrangement.
Persons under 18, youth groups, school groups or scout groups etc. are not permitted to book at the campsite.
A communal camp kitchen, water tanks and compost toilet is available for campers use. Fire pits are located at each site. Campers will be advised of fire bans.

We have two different locations available in Kangaroo Island with some options of sites in each.
FIRST LOCATION:
EMU BAY HIDEAWAY-30 hectares of peace, mainly vegetated with Kangaroo Island Narrow-leaved Mallee (Eucalyptus cneorifolia, a nationally-protected ecological community). Kangaroos and wallabies are in abundance. It has a wonderful feeling of remoteness and seclusion yet is so close to iconic Emu Bay.
Those with 4WD may choose sites overlooking Shoal Bay towards Kingscote.
Alternatively, you may set up camp anywhere on the property. There is even one under-cover position with a concrete floor for those concerned about the weather.
There are no amenities so guests need to be 100% self-sufficient (including BYO drinking water and toilet) and leave no trace. It is a wild block and only five minutes from the iconic Emu Bay, where the white sandy beach runs for 4kms, most of which is backed by 10 to 20-meter-high dunes. It is one of the best beaches on the island with crystal-clear water.
SECOND LOCATION:
Farm Stay about 15 km from Emu Bay and 20km from the main town of Kingscote. This is an operating small sheep farm of over 100ha. For security reasons the exact location is not advertised, but will be disclosed upon arrival on Kangaroo Island.
There are several beautiful sites. This location is fairly central to most KI visitor attractions. It is a secure place to set up camp and have peace of mind that your belongings will be safe while you are away from the site. The host takes care to situate sites to give campers the feeling of exclusiveness.
NOTES;
Check with me before lighting a campfire - this depends on the season and risk. Dogs are permitted if well controlled (register visiting dogs with local council).

This is a beautiful, remote, rural 250 acre private property, it is home to a number of sheep, features dams that have Marron and boasts the best that nature has to offer. Rest assured, you will not see any neighbours on this property; just picturesque landscapes everywhere you look! It is approximately a 1.5 hour drive from Penneshaw, where you get off the ferry.
We offer powered and unpowered camp sites, as well as a bush, cabin.
Camp fires (small) are allowed when fire restrictions allow. There is a fire pit that can be used when there is no fire ban, with barbecue plate and camp ovens for old-style bush cooking or cooking up your fresh organic Kangaroo Island Marron.
There is a drop toilet at the back and external lights and an external kitchen sink with hot and cold water.
There is one drop dunny and limited rain water (you are welcome to bring your own drinking water if you need extra).
For your convenience, there are recycling and rubbish bins at corner of Snug and Colman’s Rd for all waste disposal.
On half of our property we have sheep and lambs in the paddocks. Bring your camera, and you just might be lucky enough to see little lambs playing and even being born. We may also be shearing and invite you to see how this is done. The other half of the property is untouched natural scrub with grass and trees 12 foot tall. There are koalas, eagles, kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and lots of other native animals and a creek with small waterfalls. In winter time the ground can be boggy, so a 4WD is desirable and will allow you to explore further.
From the cabin, make your way down past the dams and go through the shiny gate at the bottom of the hill (please close the gate behind you). Here, you'll discover 125 acres of untouched Kangaroo Island wilderness with walking trails to explore. Keep an eye out for koalas, kangaroos, wedge-tail eagles, wallabies, large grass trees etc
We also have two small lakes that you can have a picnic by or drop some Marron nets in for a fresh feed. There are weighing scales provided at the shed so you can pay for them. This is on an honesty system- so please do the right thing, as we have already been burnt from the fires. You must contact me if you wish to fish for marron prior to catching any.
There are no shops or restaurants close by (stock up before arriving!) and you will need to travel down dirt roads but you will really have the opportunity to get off the grid, get back to nature and make memories in the stunning, untouched, Kangaroo Island wilderness!

We loved our stay at Koala Coast Retreat Farm! It was definitely our favourite on our SA road trip, not only because of the beautiful land it sat on but also the hospitality of Heath. We were welcomed and given a tour of the site and the facilities, which exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the walking routes, which were tough at points but provided great views and lots of kangaroo sitings. Sadly no koalas for us, but Heath showed us incredible photos of them up close that we had just missed. Definitely recommend booking, and thanks again Heath!

We had a great one night stay at the Breakaway farm campsite! We were greeted by the lovely Robert who showed us where to park and was happy to help with any questions. The site was flat and easy to find space for some privacy. We enjoyed the animals on site, having the goats as neighbours whilst we ate dinner. We visited on a very hot day, so were pleased to find a communal area for some shade and wifi, and noticed they even had an indoor pool that some guests were enjoying.

We had lovely time here! A great central spot if you're into just having a base to float back to, or very relaxing if you wish to stay out. Even though there are roads either side, if you face your camp towards the trees it will feel quite private and with beautiful views! Loved hearing all the birds calling out in the morning and evening 😊
The site itself was nice and flat, but glad my partner had a 4WD as the track was a little rough at the gate. Would totally recommend though!

This campsite is a hidden gem . Heath and Allan are exceptional hosts, a dynamic duo, friendly guys who go above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable. The views across to the ocean are spectacular, and the sites are large and flat. Was lucky enough to see a koala and feed the donkeys too. Also available are freshly laid eggs from the on-site chooks. You are “at one with nature” in this natural environment, a ‘no frills’ campsite that has a unique charm about it. And although it has only been open a short time you can see from the plans it will be even more beautiful when finished. I extended my stay as I was so impressed, and would definitely return in the future.

The property itself is lovely in a beautiful bush setting with lots of large grass sites, clean toilets and friendly staff who go out of their way to help you. Our campsite was for vehicles with a rooftop tent, however it wasn't flat and was more like a carpark bay to pull into along the road into the campground. It was very small with gravel and was about a quarter of the size of all other campsites on the property. We were disappointed - would come back but not choose this site & don't think it shouldn't be sold as a campsite at all.

We had a wonderful stay at Cooinda Retreats. It is a beautiful place with amazing views and a very peaceful atmosphere. The facilities are extremely well managed, with clean restrooms, drinking water available throughout, and a fully functional kitchen that made the stay very comfortable.
Our hosts, Guy and Mel, were exceptional. They regularly checked in to make sure everything was okay and were genuinely welcoming and attentive without being intrusive.
The location is also a big plus, being close to everything Victor Harbor has to offer. We would highly recommend Cooinda Retreats and will definitely be back.

This is a wonderful campsite for people who can comfortably follow the rules—such as taking their rubbish home—and who are able to calmly talk to the hosts if any inconvenience arises. If that sounds like you, this is a great place to stay.
There were many guests with dogs, and all of them looked relaxed and well behaved.
We stayed at the Bushland area, sites 5A to 5C, which were mostly sandy. I recommend bringing sand pegs. I’m not sure about the ground conditions at other sites.
Guy and Mel were excellent hosts. They always checked in on us and our children, and made us feel very welcome.
If you keep walking along the boardwalk within the property, it connects to walking trails.
The deck at the main hall has several picnic table sets and offers a great ocean view.
There is a sandpit and a basketball court, and we saw children enjoying games like tennis and cricket.
I saw another review mentioning that there are security cameras everywhere and that it made them unable to relax. Personally, I didn’t find the cameras bothersome at all. In fact, as we were staying with young children, the presence of cameras made us feel safer.
The camp kitchen is equipped with:
* Refrigerator and freezer
* Two induction hot plates
* Kettle
* Toaster
* Microwave
* Sink with hot water
* Large BBQ with side burner
* Dishwashing liquid
Please note that utensils, pots, pans, dishes, and cutlery are not provided, so you will need to bring your own.

Cooinda Camp was a fantastic place to stay. The camp is beautifully laid out and has a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere, which we really appreciated. Our site was spacious and offered great views, making it a pleasure to relax and unwind. The amenities were excellent — perfect for cooking dinner or enjoying a morning coffee — and the bathrooms were spotless and well maintained. It’s also conveniently close to town, making it an ideal balance of tranquility and accessibility. We would happily stay here again.

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at Koala Retreat. The camp is elevated, with views of the hills, ocean and gum trees which were sensational. There are several walks you can venture on at the camp, where lots of wildlife can be seen. While Allan's camp is still in its infancy, alot of work is being completed which will make it even better in the future. Allan's son Heath was the most amazing host, going above and beyond to personally introduce himself and make everyone feel welcome.
