This Kangaroo Island beach has white sands, bushland trails, and miles of ocean views.
While you might have conjured up images of swaying palm trees and tropical sunshine, this Kangaroo Island beach provides a different kind of paradise. The pristine white-sand beach is hemmed by a fringe of dense bushland, making it a prime spot for camping, plus wildlife- and bird-watching with a high probability of seeing a kangaroo or wallaby hopping along the sand. Cool off with a swim in the calm waters, go kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding, or take a bushwalk. Although Island Beach is just a short drive from the ferry port in Penneshaw, the beach is still often overlooked by day-trippers and holidaymakers, making it a great choice to escape the crowds of the south coast and the Flinders Chase National Park. Instead, Island Beach campers will have this quiet corner of the Dudley Peninsula all to themselves. Look out for campsites with picnic tables, BBQ grills, and toilet access.
