The Sanctuary Stanthorpe

6 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents65 acres · Amiens, QLD
Great for couples getaways & family groups. This 65 acre private & peaceful Stanthorpe property is a mix of open parklands, bush & rocky outcrops. The granite rock formations are great to climb (for kids, and kids at heart) with some reaching over 8m. The property has walking/cycling tracks (BYO walking shoes and push bikes), dams, and open paddocks, ideal for a family cricket match or picnic. Sit around the outdoor campfire & enjoy crisp nights under spectacular starry Stanthorpe night skies. The bird life is spectacular. Watch the possums, kangaroos, koalas and deer. Sitting by the fire inside the cabin with a glass of wine is a must. Private and peaceful, The Sanctuary Stanthorpe is the perfect spot for nature-loving enthusiasts and those who just need some space and time to relax, reconnect, reenergise and recharge. There are 2 cabins and 1 Barn at THE SANCTUARY STANTHORPE which you can just book individually or for corporate groups, multiple families, and larger group getaways. The 3 cabins are just a 2 minute walk from each other. Please note - You are required to bring your own sheets and towels Other things to note - There is so much to do within minutes of The Sanctuary Stanthorpe. We love Sutton’s Farm (cider, café and juice) good for morning or afternoon . Their apple pies are famous. Check out Stanthorpe Cheese, all 10/10 cheeses as far as we are concerned. Close by also is the Granite Belt Christmas Farm (animals to pet and feed), Law Dogs (they also have a truffle centre), Kent Saddlery and the Stanthorpe Maze which also has mini golf. Two of the region’s top award-winning wineries are just a stones throw away they are Heritage Estate (2021 best Queensland Wine and an unforgettable experience) and Summit Estate Wines, who do a great Friday and Saturday night picnic bonfire soiree. The region has 48 cellar doors. Some of our other favourites, based on the wine, the experience and service in no particular order are Jester Hill, Symphony Hill, Twisted Gum, Ballandean Estate, and Pyramid Wines. Great lunches are available at Jester Hill and Hidden Valley (ask to sit by the lake if the weather looks good but check the menu first, it is seasonal) and also at Heritage Estate has wonderful food and unique foodie events. We suggest you book ahead wherever you go and book for wine tasting in the cooler months. Some places are not open 7 days checking in advance is a good idea.Nearby you will find Anna’s candles and Washpool Soaperie which has a huge range of exceptional hand/body washes, soaps, lotions and potions. Both Anna’s Candles and Washpool goodies make great gifts. There are great places to eat too. O’Mara’s Hotel is not fancy but it’s really good pub food and they make lots of their own goodies. The Country Club Hotel does pretty good pub food too as does the Commercial Hotel. These pubs are in the main street of Stanthorpe. The Aussie Beef Steak House does more than steak but their steaks are spectacular. Hanasaku Japanese and, Orso Thai, both open for lunch and dinner are just exceptional. For something slightly fancier try Varias (it never disappoints), also open for lunch and dinner most days. Try Blue Topaz for crazy good burgers and milkshakes at good prices, or visit blue pot pantry for a casual longer lunch in the countryside. They also have great pickles and jams. Out new favourite is Balancing Heart Vineyard, they do outstanding pizzas, mezze and cheese platters add a bottle of wine and chill out by the lake for the afternoon. Balancing Heart is just minutes from Heavenly Chocolates and Girraween National Park. Hanasaku and the Aussie Beef Steakhouse are BYO wine. We recommend booking in advance for both lunch and dinner. The region has some wonderful national parks to explore. These include Girraween, Sundown and Bald Rock. For a closer and easier “rocky walk” with great views visit Donnelly’s Castle it’s just 8 minutes away. It is very kid/older people friendly and a great place for a picnic. Enjoy rocks, caves and wonderful lookout. Donnelly’s castle is close to Heritage Estate and Boireann Wines and also close to Stanthorpe Cheese. We will consider one dogs per cabin. Please contact us first to discuss. Extra charges apply.Oh, and don’t forget to check out a sunset during your stay and star gazing is a must. Both are spectacular if there is a clear sky and the Sanctuary is the perfect place to gaze at a night sky.

Winnow's Rise - Couple's Hideaway

1 site · Lodging160 acres · Palgrave, QLD
You’ll find Winnow's Rise nestled among the bush on the edge of the Granite Belt, in country Queensland. Hidden away on our 160-acre farm with only the gums and the clouds for company, our little cabin is a refuge from the bustle of the everyday. Created with reconnection in mind, we’ve made a place where time slows enough for you to settle, reflect, imagine, and tend to yourself and your loved one. Be nourished by simple pleasures as you unwind amid the quietude of Winnow’s Rise. Our cabin is an adults-only stay and is perfect for couples and best friends. Rest First, settle in and let the gentle sounds and smells of the bush and the wideness of the sky ground you in place. There is time to breathe in and out slowly here. The earliest rays of sun and contented birdsong calmly signal each new day at Winnow's Rise. Stay in bed and watch through generous windows for early morning visits from local wallabies and kangaroos, or rock gently with a warm cup on the verandah's hanging bed. Firelight An altitude of 703 meters above sea level means that we enjoy four distinct seasons, and even in summer, the nights at Winnow's Rise can be cool. Curl up in front of the cutest wood-burning fireplace or snuggle together outside to toast marshmallows and take in the breathtaking beauty of a star-hung sky. Soak Overlooking dappled grazing land and with views toward the Great Diving Range sits a stone bathtub perfect for two. Be prepared to while away the hours in a bubbly, warm cocoon. Facing east, an early morning soak is the nicest way to say good morning, and with views of the heavens, the most peaceful way to say good night. Supplied by rainwater and mineral water depending on the season, bathing amid the fresh air in complete privacy is a treat for the body and mind. Create Planted for you and with a mind to enrich the senses, fragrant herbs, florals, and leafy greens are ready for picking in the organic kitchen garden. Prepare a simple salad to accompany your wood-fired pizza or stay-in dinner, or harvest your favorite herbs to create fresh teas and refreshments. Seasonal and clean, just pick goodness to make your stay tastier. Cook There's nothing quite like cooking with fire. Handmade by Ben, the wood-fired oven is perfect for all seasons of the year. Create slow, smoky, gently braised flavours over the winter months, or raise the temperature and build your own gourmet hand-crafted pizzas. A Baby-Q Webber sits alongside, ready to help you grill and barbecue to your heart's content. Whatever your taste, dine in the rustic, festoon-strung outdoor setting and enjoy the night song of crickets and other bush residents. The kitchen has been curated and is ready for those with an interest in home cooking. You'll find it full-sized and fully equipped with the addition of a bread maker for preparing fresh pizza dough or other wheaty treats. A selection of pantry items such as olive oil, balsamic and white wine vinegar, soy sauce, honey, and a few spices means you can whip up dressings for your salad creations on the spot. Reflect and Imagine The name Winnow's Rise was chosen purposefully to reflect an intention for this dwelling. To winnow means to sift and select, to take the best, and to leave what no longer serves behind. The cabin's interior has been slowly and carefully filled with collections of living plants that call to life and growth, original paintings that speak to imagination and creativity, handmade objects that salute the beauty of imperfection, and a little library of loved titles to lose oneself in. Facing east to catch the best light, day streams in and lifts and nurtures the spirit. There are comforting places in every room - places to meditate and see and commune and connect and create. Linger Just want to stay in? Enjoy a loaf of locally sourced artisan bread on arrival, don a linen robe, and let everything go. Throw a match on the prepared fire pit or indoor fireplace plan to do as little as possible. Browse curated titles from our little library of favorite books and current magazines or settle into bed and watch a movie on the smart TV. Wander While there's no need to go out, there are days of slow exploring to do if you'd like to venture into the countryside. We're perfectly positioned to take advantage of both the Southern Downs and the Granite Belt. Meander along country roads through granite-spotted scenery toward Stanthorpe. You'll pass cattle and sheep farms and orchards of apples and stone fruit. Take your time exploring wineries and spend the day picking, tasting, and collecting seasonal fruits, cheeses, truffles, preserves, pastries, artisan soaps, and chocolates. Explore unique national parks and lose yourself in the natural beauty of the region. On entry to our property Winnow, you’ll pass by our home, continue up and over the hill, and through the paddock to Winnow’s Rise. The cabin is tucked away in the bush and is completely private. Entry is via self-check-in. Feel free to amble around the paddock directly in front of the cabin's verandah. As there are cattle or sheep on the property, please always close any gates you open during your stay. Help yourself to a selection of herbal, English breakfast and Earl Grey teas, hot chocolate, and Nespresso coffee pods. Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, honey, vegemite, gourmet porridge sachets, selected spices, and salt and pepper are also on hand. The vegetable and herb gardens are seasonal and will vary but you’re welcome to pick and taste and create with them also. Waiting for you on your arrival, you'll find a loaf of freshly baked bread, creamy milk, bottled water, organic butter, cookies, and marshmallows ready to toast over the fire pit. Wi-fi is available, and there are smart TVs in both bedrooms. Our rural location means slower speeds, but you’ll be able to stream a movie comfortably. Phone coverage is fully accessible on the Optus network but limited on the Telstra network. Winnow’s Rise is completely off-grid, powered by solar, and supplied with filtered rainwater suitable for drinking.
