We have cleared grassy paddocks, some shady areas, and access to the Colo River, one of the most pristine rivers in NSW. Our river access is normally shallow, well-suited to young families or those who just want to lay back and enjoy a refreshing dip. Amazing sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing are provided free of charge along with bird watching, local wildlife, and horses in surrounding paddocks. We offer limited sites to comply with NSW Camping legislation and Hipcamp guidelines and to enable campers to experience the Colo as it should be, listening to the beautiful wildlife and really appreciating the outdoors. Sites are large with varying distance between each to enable you to enjoy the camping experience in your own space. Both paddock sites and limited river spots are available. If planning to stay with friends and you wish to share a site only 1 booking is required, the sites are large, some up to 30m x 30m. IMPORTANT: Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis, with conditions, and a $20 fee applies. Please check with Hosts before booking. Once approved, please add the Pets Extra when booking. (Saturday night 2-night minimum) There is no mobile reception or internet access, therefore, providing a true off-grid retreat. Self-sufficient campers are preferred. There are fire drums available on each site, most with grill plates - subject to RFS bush fire danger ratings on the day. There are three communal flushing toilets and two awesome hot water showers! ALL waste is to leave with you! There are local bush walks through National Parks and great places for mountain bike riding although be mindful of holiday traffic in peak times on our local dirt roads. The local shop, Colo Riverside is open 4 days a week Thurs-Sun, just 10kms up the road providing last-minute supplies, ice, bottle shop, and cafe services. Please note: Due to our location bookings may be canceled at short notice in times of bad weather due to flooding, limited access, fire or flood warnings. (Campfires) we have 5 fire pits on some of our sites , fires are permitted during the winter months. We also have 2 x 4 star cabins which sleep 15 between them, they are listed separately on Hipcamp. However the guests from both the camp sites and the cabins have shared access to the pool and facilities. Which includes a large under cover patio area. FRIENDLY PETS welcome. On certain camp sites ourSmall kitchen with microwave dishwasher and cook top and fridge may be used . Please just clean up any mess you make. For the next guest All cleaning products under sink. WE HAVE 2 DOGS that are people friendly., who love to meet new fury friends , they do have the run of our property . Our property contains the first road in and out of Colo - the original road is supported by hand built dry rock walls some of which are over 3 m high. Often referred to as convict built, but more likely built by freemen who were former convicts.  The property housed the load master's residence who controlled the cargo boats that docked to collect the valley’s produce. This was then transported back down the Colo River which flows into the Hawkesbury river and leads to Broken Bay following the coastline down to Old Sydney Town. The beach diagonally across the river was landed upon by members of the First Fleet’s exploratory scouting party on the lookout for quality farm land - some of which is still in production today.  Our property is on the uppermost reach of freshwater but with tidal influence. This deep water allows swimming and canoeing all year round. Our property is adjacent to the only council built canoe launching facilities on the Colo River.

We have communal sites plus separated private sites for those that would like some privacy. (If you would like a private site, please message us once you have booked). Have a Fenced off Kids Playground. Buggys (allowed any weekend at an extra fee). Quads and dirt bikes also allowed PLEASE NOTE; They are an extra fee and only allowed on specific weekends. Buggy Tours and kids quad rides are available (extra costs). We would like to advise that entry to our beautiful property is a dirt road and does have mounds. The road has just been upgraded and although has dirt mounds is quite easy. We suggest to drive over them on an angle and take your time. Amazing sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing are provided free of charge along with bird watching, local wildlife, and horses in surrounding paddocks. We offer limited sites to comply with NSW Camping legislation and Hipcamp guidelines and to enable campers to experience the Colo as it should be, listening to the beautiful wildlife and really appreciating the outdoors. Sites are large with varying distance between each to enable you to enjoy the camping experience in your own space. Both paddock sites and limited river spots are available. If planning to stay with friends and you wish to share a site only 1 booking is required, the sites are large, some up to 30m x 30m. IMPORTANT: Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis, with conditions, and a $20 fee applies. Please check with Hosts before booking. Once approved, please add the Pets Extra when booking. (Saturday night 2-night minimum) There is no mobile reception or internet access, therefore, providing a true off-grid retreat. Self-sufficient campers are preferred. Our property contains the first road in and out of Colo - the original road is supported by hand built dry rock walls some of which are over 3 m high. Often referred to as convict built, but more likely built by freemen who were former convicts.  The property housed the load master's residence who controlled the cargo boats that docked to collect the valley’s produce. This was then transported back down the Colo River which flows into the Hawkesbury river and leads to Broken Bay following the coastline down to Old Sydney Town. The beach diagonally across the river was landed upon by members of the First Fleet’s exploratory scouting party on the lookout for quality farm land - some of which is still in production today.  Our property is on the uppermost reach of freshwater but with tidal influence. This deep water allows swimming and canoeing all year round. Our property is adjacent to the only council built canoe launching facilities on the Colo River.

We’d definitely recommend this place! Debbie and Lambert were wonderful hosts, incredible welcoming and accommodating especially with our later check in. Debbie was available at all times for anything we needed and Lambert showed us around the amenities which included a very modern bathroom and kitchen inside a large shed that we were lucky to have to ourselves for two nights. Also had some games for the kids and a book of recommendations on things to explore around the area. Lots of mosquitoes though, bring repellent, you’ll need it.

Amazing location, beautiful spot and a great set up. Large open area near the creek with easily accessible toilets. Some very friendly horses and cattle. Hosts were helpful, friendly and made the stay very enjoyable.

we stayed at campsite 1 and the cow had 2 calves that were super friendly, our 2 year old loved waking up to them outside our camper and would watch them. the flushing toilet was clean and had a lizard to keep your company adding to the experience :) Lindsay was great and friendly there was a fair few campers around but the area was so large it felt like you had it to yourself. the weather was perfect and would come back again. thank you for sharing your property.

Great place for camping and pet friendly. Amazing camp-site and location. Plenty of different camp-sites to book. Hideaway Hollow was very private and plenty of space with 2 dogs running around. Definitely recommended and will be going back again.

Nice rustic farm stay with friendly and helpful hosts. Beautiful views, and plenty of space. Some road noise but didn’t affect sleep. Just note the policy on fire pits which is clear in the details. Toilets were decent and clean for long drops. Shower was a bit inaccessible having to walk across a field and there being only one for all sites. But plan around that and you’ll be fine.

Carol was a great host! Very helpful and accomodating. The site was very well maintained and cared for. Nicely spaced out and not too many sites. Shaded under trees and flat with nice big fire pits. Cool to see the wallaby rescue they have on the property. Drop toilet was very convenient. Location was great, to explore new castle or the central coast. We will be back!

I stayed at Steve’s camp recently and really enjoyed my time there overall. The location is great—nice and close to Sydney, with a good hike just up the road that makes it easy to explore the area. Steve himself was an absolute legend! His brownies, stories, prizes, and local knowledge really added a special touch to the stay and made the experience more personal and fun. A few things to note for future campers: the map could use an update as it was a bit hard to read, and the campsite is fairly close to the road, so you’ll hear some road noise at times. There’s also a bright streetlight that stays on all night, which might bother some people depending on which site they’re in. The walk to the bathroom at night or early morning can be a little awkward since it goes through other campsites. Overall though, it was a great stay with a friendly vibe, good amenities, and an unbeatable location for a quick getaway from the city.

My group of friends absolutely loved this site. We stayed here for 3 nights, the view was amazing and it felt very private despite there being other campers showing how spacious each site is. The private access to the river as well as brand new amenities was very convenient and a great bonus to the site. Yara was also an amazing host, checking in on us with quick response times. I definitely recommend this location and would stay here again in the future!!

Great spot for camping with kids and in a big group. Plenty of space, the river is nice and shallow in places for little people to splash about, plus lots of things for the kids to play with at the site. Toilets well maintained. Road into and out is quite steep and bumpy, fine in our 2WD campervan when dry but suspect it would be a bit sketchy in the wet.
