Proceed about 2.1 miles past 3 right turns and make the 4th right at LA ENTRADA. (There should be four car tires marking the turn) As you Proceed, you will begin to see a red roof in the distance. This is your destination! you can drive with a car on the dirt road leading up to the camper. there are lots of marshes when you are making the final turn. most guests keep their cars on the dirt walk and walk the few steps up to the cabin. we will be adding a pebbled road soon!

Ultimate peace and privacy. Nestled in juniper-wooded hills with sweeping views. Close to Albuquerque (20 minutes) and Santa Fe (40 minutes) but feels like a secluded retreat. Most people have no problem finding my place by entering my address in their GPS. However, I have had 2 HipCampers report their GPS directed them to a road called Camino de las Brisas or Las Brisas Loop. Turning here will lead you to a steep, dangerous road where it will be very difficult to turn around if you're in an RV and impossible with a trailer. Continue on Camino de Las Huertas to Senda Osa Vieja. It's marked with a street sign, a stone monument with brass plate. There's also a blue "private road" sign with a dragon. This land was purchased in 1956 by my archeologist parents because of the ancient pueblo site (dating from 1000 A.D.) and pit house sites (dating from 800 A.D.) Until the mega drought seriously impacted the land, a stream ran through it year round. Now it is only intermittent. Across the valley from this property, and within view of the campsite, is the site of a Spanish Colonial village, San Jose de las Huertas. It dates from the 1700s and is now owned by the Archeological Conservancy. This area is rich in history both Native American and Spanish. Learn more about this land: Located in the high desert 20 minutes from Albuquerque and 40 minutes from Santa Fe. Views of Sandia mountains, and near historic archeological sites. Within a 10 minute drive are popular mountain biking trails. Petroglyphs are a 20 minute, moderately strenuous hike from property. Very peaceful, quiet and safe. Read all the Rules and Safety info before booking so you understand exactly what facilities are and are not available, particularly if you in an RV or trailer.

Proceed about 2.1 miles past 3 right turns and make the 4th right at LA ENTRADA. (There should be four car tires marking the turn) As you Proceed, you will begin to see a red roof in the distance. This is your destination! you can drive with a car on the dirt road leading up to the camper. there are lots of marshes when you are making the final turn. most guests keep their cars on the dirt walk and walk the few steps up to the cabin. we will be adding a pebbled road soon!

Ultimate peace and privacy. Nestled in juniper-wooded hills with sweeping views. Close to Albuquerque (20 minutes) and Santa Fe (40 minutes) but feels like a secluded retreat. Most people have no problem finding my place by entering my address in their GPS. However, I have had 2 HipCampers report their GPS directed them to a road called Camino de las Brisas or Las Brisas Loop. Turning here will lead you to a steep, dangerous road where it will be very difficult to turn around if you're in an RV and impossible with a trailer. Continue on Camino de Las Huertas to Senda Osa Vieja. It's marked with a street sign, a stone monument with brass plate. There's also a blue "private road" sign with a dragon. This land was purchased in 1956 by my archeologist parents because of the ancient pueblo site (dating from 1000 A.D.) and pit house sites (dating from 800 A.D.) Until the mega drought seriously impacted the land, a stream ran through it year round. Now it is only intermittent. Across the valley from this property, and within view of the campsite, is the site of a Spanish Colonial village, San Jose de las Huertas. It dates from the 1700s and is now owned by the Archeological Conservancy. This area is rich in history both Native American and Spanish. Learn more about this land: Located in the high desert 20 minutes from Albuquerque and 40 minutes from Santa Fe. Views of Sandia mountains, and near historic archeological sites. Within a 10 minute drive are popular mountain biking trails. Petroglyphs are a 20 minute, moderately strenuous hike from property. Very peaceful, quiet and safe. Overview

Situated along the famous Route 66, Albuquerque is New Mexico's closest thing to a big city. While it doesn't get nearly as many visitors as nearby Santa Fe, there's still plenty to do and experience, from checking out ancient art at Petroglyph National Monument to taking a tram ride up to the crest of the Sandia Mountains. Camping near Albuquerque also gives those who choose to explore its many wild places a plethora of environments and landscapes—the central location smack in the heart of New Mexico makes it a great jumping-off point to nearby Cibola National Forest and the Rio Grande. Rustic tent sites and RV campsites can be found in every direction, many within a short drive of the city center.

Where to go

Central New Mexico

The area immediately surrounding Albuquerque, known as the Central Region, offers everything from historic pueblos to wild expanses of untouched nature. Don’t miss the chance to hike through Cibola National Forest, just east of the city, or head up to the nearby town of Jemez Springs to soak in healing thermal waters.

The North-Central Region

A short drive north from Albuquerque, New Mexico's North Central Region is characterized by mountainous landscapes, Native American pueblos, and charming communities. Architecture fans will find plenty of interest in Santa Fe and Taos (including the spectacular Taos Pueblo), while hikers won't want to miss the chance to explore Bandelier National Monument and Santa Fe National Forest.

Southwest New Mexico

South of Albuquerque, the Southwest region offers a mix of Old West towns and vast stretches of rugged landscapes. You can take biologist-led tours or hike independently in the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge or soak your cares away in one of the many hot springs near the town of Truth or Consequences.

When to go

The best times of year to visit Albuquerque are in spring or fall, when daytime temperatures are warm, with highs in the 70s or 80s. Summers can be excruciatingly hot, with highs in the 90s from June through August, while winters get quite cold, with subfreezing nighttime temperatures. For an extra special experience, consider coming in October, when hundreds of hot air balloons fill the sky in honor of the annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
