The property is very well located to be a base camp for day trips throughout the southwest. These lakes provide excellent opportunities for boating, water sports and fishing. There are also plenty of great local pubs and attractions, all within a short distance. The historic and charming Elephant Bridge Hotel is a short drive away in Darlington, offering meals in one of Victoria’s oldest continuously licensed venues. You can also find supplies just down the road at Derrinallum, or Lismore, which are each a mere few minutes drive away. A little further afield is friendly Camperdown, one of the best resources country towns in the region with dozens of eateries and activities aplenty for visitors.

Weekend Trip to The Cove Stopover

We are from WA so have stayed at many low cost sites. So we are comparing with others. Booking process was a pain. The paddock setup was fine. We free camp, donation camp and camp self contained as we did here. Compared to other sites it offered nothing, apart from somewhere to park and some mowing. We don’t need a toilet but surely that is a basic facility to expect. I expect peeing during the night is as the cows do. In essence, for us with a self contained setup, with toilet, water, rubbish taken care of, it was expensive by a long shot. Many other facilities with one or two assets, services or facilities, on busy tourist routes are $10-$15 per night. But really, many thanks for making your place available, good luck going forward. PS I object to paying booking fees, and seeing how much they take from the proceeds Cheers David

We recently stayed for a couple of days at Faraway Lodge and it was an absolutely fantastic experience—especially for a large group and families with kids. The amenities truly set this place apart from the rest. Having access to a flushable toilet, hot water shower, power hook-up, and an additional storage shed was a huge bonus. We even used the shed as a makeshift kitchen on the days when the weather wasn’t great, which made the stay incredibly comfortable and stress-free. The campsite is completely secluded and private, well away from the main residence and you basically have the whole lake all to yourself which was the best thing about it. It really felt like we had our own peaceful space surrounded by nature. The location by the lake was beautiful and perfect for relaxing and glorious views, highly instagramable! We stayed with a big group—multiple families with kids, lots of big tents and cars, there was ample space for all of us. There was no shortage of activities. The provided tin boat and canoes were a highlight, and we made great use of them on the lake, creating lots of fun memories together. The host was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. They supplied firewood, toiletries, and other essentials, and regularly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed without ever being intrusive. That level of hospitality made a big difference and really added to how relaxed and welcome we felt. Will definitely be coming back!

This was our first time staying at a holiday park, and we were pleasantly surprised. The park is set high up with beautiful views over the lakes, and it’s located on the same property as the town’s botanical gardens, which was such a cute bonus. The host was really friendly, and because the park wasn’t busy, it never felt crowded. The amenities were excellent — very clean — and the whole park was incredibly well maintained. Overall, a great first experience and one we’d happily repeat.
