Explore beaches, lighthouses, and Great Barrier Reef islands at the Port of Bundaberg.
Just a 20-minute drive from Bundaberg at the mouth of the Burnett River, Burnett Heads is better known as the Port of Bundaberg. Once you’ve admired the town’s two historic lighthouses and tucked into a platter of fresh seafood at one of the waterfront restaurants, head down to Oaks Beach to get your fix of sun, sea, and surf. Of course, there are plenty of ways to get on the water during your Burnett Heads camping trip, whether you’re mooring your yacht at Burnett Heads Marina, chartering a boat to fish for Barramundi, or cruising out to Lady Musgrave Island or Lady Elliot Island in the southern Great Barrier Reef. Don’t forget a visit to Mon Repos Conservation Park, just south of town, which is home to one of the largest nesting sites for Loggerhead turtles in the South Pacific. Campers have a variety of options, including beachside holiday parks and caravan parks with powered sites and dump points.
