Matthews Creek Campground
Description
If you ever want to get really remote, Matthews Creek Campground is the place. It’s the kind of remote where you will have your own pool of emerald colored Salmon River water to baptize in. It’s the kind of remote where the nearest town’s population sign reads less than 200 people. There is no cell phone reception, no Wi-Fi; just a quaint campground perched on a cliff overlooking the last truly wild river in California. It’s the kind of remote where driving on a one-lane windy road with steep cliff drop-offs, is par for the course. Once you recover from the adventurous drive, you can string your hammock between the spreading tan oaks or lay your Mexican blanket out on the river bar below. And the swimming hole…. there are few that can rival it. Just do us a favor, and don’t tell anyone about it (wink).
