Welcome to privacy on the floor of the desert in the middle of Anza Borrego State Park with hot showers, hiking, endless stars and WIFI. We are not in Julian! Our five acres backs up to the Cleveland National Forest for unlimited hiking and just across the highway is a 4WD access point for Palm Spring, Canyon Sin Nombre, Mud Caves and much more. You can soak in hot springs five miles away at Aqua Caliente and pick up supplies at the seasonal daytime store.
This area has the unique designation of a community with privately owned property in the middle of the Anza Borrego State Park.
Primarily due to rugged outdoor loving folks in the 1930's that would make the 6 hour journey by car from San Diego to spend time among the jackrabbits, kit foxes and burros.
This is not a commercial campground. You are "glamping" at our home.
The five acre parcels are "Jack Rabbit Homesteads" granted in 1938. George Leetch in our history of Canebrake said it best...the people who come here "find the peace and beauty of the desert vastness a healing seclusion and comforting relief from the frenzied outside world....An atmosphere of united fellowship and good-neighborliness prevails, but a respect for privacy is held in high regard."
Our closest neighbor is 10 acres away. You may see another camper during your stay, however each site faces a different direction and privacy abounds so you can experience the sound of silence.
You have a choice of staying in one of our vintage trailers and/or camping.
We also have a perfectly level spot for RV's. No special access is required and we have a cart to haul supplies to the walk-in tent camping areas. Check out the individual listings to find the best spot for your group and feel free to message me with any questions.
Ellyn's place was even more magical than we hoped. The desert landscapes were awe inspiring and the drive to get there was totally beautiful! Ellyn is an amazing host who balances a very friendly welcoming energy with respect for space and privacy if that is what you are looking for. We booked the added extras of a guided nature walk and a bubble workshop for our kids and they were both fantastic. Our three year old has been asking when we are going to see Ellyn again for days.
The moment I saw Ellyn and Nimue again, I felt the positive energy of the camp in my soul. This camp makes me forget all my real life stress, real life logistics and problems instantly.
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the campsite, the stars, the bonfire, night walks under the full moon light, dancing to latin tunes around the fire...it was simply magical and therapeutic to our souls.
I cannot thank Ellyn enough for running a campsite as beautiful as this so remote in the desert. Ellyn has put in so much effort to making people happy. Very blessed to have met Ellyn and enjoyed this campsite.
Thank you to Ellyn for sharing such a special spot in the desert. The sink and bathroom setup made for a comfortable and pleasant stay in the hot desert. This camp spot was so unique and allowed us to fall asleep under shooting stars.
We Camped in Blair Valley BLM land. Awesome night sky views. Mixture of tents & RVs.
