Livia is a super friendly host and her place is truly unique. It's located in the middle of rolling hills with some stunning views. There's a number of different places you can sleep - from popping up a tent to one of a number of bedrooms in the main house. There are a ton of places to relax and enjoy the sunset. And then it's a short drive to Carmel or Big Sur for some fun daytime activities.

Lihi is a top notch host. Her place is a bit of drive up one of the better maintained gravel roads we've seen. Once we turned into her driveway, my wife and I both said "Oh wow!". She has a nice spot set up for an average sized tent with an outhouse and outdoor shower. There's a pond that is apparently 25 feet deep. Overall, very nice, picturesque place in the mountains.

Umpqua's Last Resort is a great place to stay in the middle of the amazing Umpqua National Forest. Umpqua's Last Resort is the only privately owned camping spot in the forest and has spots for tents, campervans, RV's, and has several cabins and tiny houses - basically fits everyone's needs. About 15 minutes from many different waterfalls and the Umpqua Hot Springs. Each site has electricity, and the bathrooms have wonderful, hot showers. A great place to stay while you explore all that the Umpqua National Forest has to offer.

Wondernut Farm is a great place with amazing hosts. The farm is beautiful and about as close as you can get to Yosemite without being in the park. Wilderness Bridge is about a 5-10 minute walk from the main kitchen. There's no vehicle access, but it's worth the walk. It's nice and secluded and the cabin is beautiful. Highly recommended!

If you love driving the California coast and amazing panoramic views, this is the place for you.

This isn't your grandparents yurt either. Full electricity, Wifi, running water, full kitchen, showers, a TV, etc - this place has got everything you need to keep you comfortable while enjoying the unique vibes the yurt has to offer.

One of the biggest surprises for me - which I'm a HUGE fan of - is that you actually get to enjoy sunrise and sunset over your ocean view as the yurt faces south.

Let me start by saying - I've stayed at many, many Hipcamps. This is my favorite.

It's quite the trek to get to Largo Rim Ranch. We drove in from the south and spent roughly 80-90 miles on a road with nothing else in sight. If you're coming from Santa Fe or Las Vegas, it's not as long. But then you get on the dirt road for 25 miles. It might sound a bit crazy, but it's definitely worth it.

The cabin is a cozy, 100+ year old, two room structure that originally served as a schoolhouse for the children of the original homesteaders in the area. It's been renovated with the utmost care utilizing as many of the original materials and building techniques as possible.

The ranch comprises of over 1000 acres and it will take you a while to see it all. The ranch sits atop a plateau and has stunning views overlooking a canyon and the Sabinoso Wilderness area. Along the hillside, there are a number of caves that were the homes to Native Americans in the area years ago. You can still find petroglyphs on the outside of the caves. The property also has a large lake and tons of hiking.

This is not really a place to stay at while you visit a nearby destination. Largo Rim Ranch IS the destination. Ideally, you come here and stay for 2-3 days, because that's what it's going to take to really explore this place.

I really can't say enough good things about this place. Just visit Largo Rim Ranch. You won't regret it.

AKA Stables is a great spot in the small town of New Cordell. We camped on the grass right next to the outdoor arena, and had easy access to the bathroom and kitchen in the barn next door. It's a simple setup with lots of space, and great for an RV or camper! The barn itself is beautiful, and we got the chance to walk around and meet the horses grazing outside as well. It's quiet, peaceful, and a great place to relax in the countryside. There are a couple picnic tables and a chair swing that we enjoyed right off the main house. We went into town and stopped by the donut shop and a great little diner called Shorty Bauman's (known for their fried onion burgers and fried catfish!).
