Primitive camping on Caddo Lake is an experience like no other. Spanning 25,400 acres, the naturally formed fresh water lake gracefully crosses from Louisiana into Texas and is home to the largest cypress forest in the world.
The area on which this camp is located is rich in history--once the dwelling place of Caddo Indians who were known for their basket weaving and pottery skills. The site was part of the land acquired by the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.
Caddo Lake has a unique ecosystem and is a high quality habitat for many species, including migratory and resident waterfowl, osprey, eagles, alligators, and many species of fish. It is considered to be a valuable water system and Texas' only wetland of international importance.

The History of the Station
Established in 1876 as a Railroad Depot Avinger Station operated as such until the mid 20th century. After being put out to pasture, the depot was rescued from oblivion as a barn and brought back to Avinger in 1998.
It was moved to a more prominent location near its original site in June of 2021
after pondering how the depot might serve the community once again.
Desiring to preserve and improve our community’s heritage of service to travelers and trades, the depot is being restored and will serve as the RV Park office.

If you must cancel your reservation, please call us

rebook your stay, or issue a partial refund.

a 7 day cancellation notice is required for some holidays,

•Rental payments must be made in advance or upon arrival.
ACCOMMODATIOS AND ACTIVITIES
•Check-out time is 11:00am
•Quite hours are from 10pm to 8am.
•Speed limit is 5MPH
•Only on RV and two other vehicles are allowed per site.
they must be clean and good condition regardless of age.
•Sites must be kept clean. A dumpster is available for bagged trash.
•A sewer hose "donut" or "L" connector is required.
•Campfires are allowed only in fire pits or grills that are raised
and contain the fire. Breeo fire pits and grills are available for rent.
•The code for use of the bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room) must
not be given out to anyone of your party.
•Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
while outside your RV at all times.
•Only 2 pets are allowed per RV and must not disturb
other guests. Pets outside must be on leash, under control,
and not left unattended. Pet owners are responsible to
immediately picl up after their pets. Plastic bags and bins
are available for waste.
•Use of generations is prohibited, expect during
a power storage.
•Washing or changing oil of vehicles in the park
is prohibited.
•Smoking is prhohibited inside avinger station's depot
(office, cafe, and museum) and bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room.)
•Do unto othere as you would have them do unto you.

•To the extent permitted by law, user hereby indemnifies,
releases and agrees to protect and hold harmless
avinger station, its officers, owners, employees,
and agents ('avinger station parties"), from and against all
claims, causes of action, and/or liability arising out of or

This is a quite spot in east texas. There’s woods on one side of us and a cattle/ quarter horse ranch on the other. We have calm red angus cattle on the property and their guard donkeys. If you’d like to feed them just let us know! You can fish near by at a public fishing spot. We will eventually be able to offer fishing on the property, we are working on stocking. If there ends up being an interest in hunting we can look into that. This is a primitive site so bring your gear! Mount Pleasant and New Boston are about 30 minutes away with restaurants and shopping.

Avinger Station RV Park
The History of the Station
Established in 1876 as a Railroad Depot Avinger Station operated as such until the mid 20th century. After being put out to pasture, the depot was rescued from oblivion as a barn and brought back to Avinger in 1998.
It was moved to a more prominent location near its original site in June of 2021
after pondering how the depot might serve the community once again.
Desiring to preserve and improve our community’s heritage of service to travelers and trades, the depot is being restored and will serve as the RV Park office.

If you must cancel your reservation, please call us

ACCOMMODATIOS AND ACTIVITIES
•Check-out time is 11:00am
•Quite hours are from 10pm to 8am.
•Speed limit is 5MPH
•Only on RV and two other vehicles are allowed per site.

•Sites must be kept clean. A dumpster is available for bagged trash.
•A sewer hose "donut" or "L" connector is required.
•Campfires are allowed only in fire pits or grills that are raised
and contain the fire. Breeo fire pits and grills are available for rent.
•The code for use of the bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room) must
not be given out to anyone of your party.
•Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
while outside your RV at all times.
•Only 2 pets are allowed per RV and must not disturb
other guests. Pets outside must be on leash, under control,
and not left unattended. Pet owners are responsible to
immediately picl up after their pets. Plastic bags and bins
are available for waste.
•Use of generations is prohibited, expect during
a power storage.
•Washing or changing oil of vehicles in the park
is prohibited.
•Smoking is prhohibited inside avinger station's depot
(office, cafe, and museum) and bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room.)
•Do unto othere as you would have them do unto you.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY
•To the extent permitted by law, user hereby indemnifies,
releases and agrees to protect and hold harmless
avinger station, its officers, owners, employees,
and agents ('avinger station parties"), from and against all
claims, causes of action, and/or liability arising out of or
related to user's use of the RV site, campground's property,
and/or any condition thereon, without limit and wihtout
regard to the cause or causes thereof or the gross negligence
of avinger station parties.

2 nights at Glamping Remote
I loved camping on Will and Austyn's land. They met us with a warm hello a tour upon arrival. The tent was located towards the back of the property, tucked away nicely. We had the whole camp to ourselves, which was GREAT! We wanted a nice and quiet trip, which is what we got. The tent itself was cozy. Before we arrived, Will and Austyn set up our tent and bathroom area with heaters, turned on and ready to go. That was an AMAZING touch. The night we arrived, the low was 25 degrees. But it actually got hot in the tent, I was sweating. They also provided an electric blanket! Again, a wonderful touch that they didnt have to provide.
The wifi was Great! If you want to unplug completely, great. But we needed the service for Emergency calls back home.
The community kitchen was great! It had almost everything we needed. The bathroom was warm because of the space heater and fully stocked with essentials!
Now a couple of things to think about:
If you're a coffee drinker, bring k cups. Thats what was inside the tent. Or it will be a process to use the French press. Personally, not my thing, but im a HUGE coffee drinker.
The kitchen isnt heated, so cooking was painful the first night only because it was so cold. But the soup we made was worth it.
Spiders... everywhere. Lol its expected... only daddy long legs but be aware if you a terrified of spiders like myself.
Lighting in the tent was low, bring a lantern! Theres a spot to hang one.
All in all it was WONDERFUL! WILL be back!

We had a great time. The site was nice with a big stone for ring and a soft bed if pine needles. The host, Linda, was very accommodating and responded quickly to communications and made the trip stress free.
We loved Porter the goat, Andy the big lovable dog and Molly the little friendly dog. Andy and Porter slept outside of our tent and it was adorable.
The location of pretty with some room to explore.

This is a gravel parking lot that is sizable, has power hookups, has water hookup, and sewer hookup, and a huge shade tree.
This is in the city, so there is traffic constantly by the spot, but it is peaceful enough to get rest if you're traveling through, on the way to somewhere else.
Richard was a wonderful host, and actually met me at the spot to make sure that I could get in and situated. It was very appreciated.
Since I was parked under the shade tree for the proximity to the power hookup, my starlink barely worked because of the obstruction overhead. This is not the host's fault, it's just how it was, and I'm letting everyone know if you've got Starlink, this may be an impediment to your connection.
I got very good directions, and since Richard was present, I was on the phone with him when I pulled in, so everything went smoothly.

The grounds were great with so much room to explore. The Haunt was awesome and being able to order breakfast the last day was so much easier for pack up.

This was my second stay at Avinger RV Park. I love the size of the park. I think there are only 14 sites on the property. There are plenty of pull through sites. It is very clean and the full time RVers keep their site clean. There is a weight room, bathroom with shower and FREE washers and dryers. They are renovating the station. I'm sure it will be beautiful once it's complete.

Overview
About
Fringed by lush pine and hardwood forests on the southern shores of Wright Patman Lake, Atlanta State Park is one of northeast Texas’ (yes, Texas, not Georgia) most idyllic camping spots. There’s plenty to explore in the park, from easy hiking trails and lakeside lookouts to Native American heritage trails and birdwatching by the lake. Getting on the water is a must—rent a canoe or kayak, launch your own watercraft from the boat ramps, cool off with a swim, or try your luck fishing for a 75-pound catfish. Campers have three campgrounds to choose from, two on the lakefront.
Notable campgrounds
- Best for families: Knights Bluff Camping Area is well-equipped with full hook-ups, flush toilets, and hot showers. There’ s even a sand volleyball pit.
- Best for outdoor adventurers: White Oak Ridge Camping Area has the beach, a boat ramp, and hiking trails on its doorstep.
- Best for hikers: Wilkins Creek Camping Area has easy access to the White Oak Ridge Trail and Hickory Hollow Nature Trail.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- You can reserve one of the park’s 58 campsites in advance via the Texas State Parks website.
- Campsite reservations open five months in advance, while the picnic pavilion can be booked up to 12 months in advance.
- Campsites can book up as fast, especially on summer and holiday weekends, so book at least three months in advance for the best spots.
When to go
Atlanta State Park is open year-round, but summer is peak season and the best time for swimming and water sports. To avoid the crowds, opt for a springtime visit, when dogwoods and other wildflowers add a pop of color to the lakeside, or in fall, when the forests transform with a blaze of autumn leaves. If you can brave the cold, winter is the best time for bird-watching.
Know before you go
- Atlanta State Park is located 11 miles northwest of Atlanta, Texas, or about a 20-minute drive away.
- Park entrance fees are payable in addition to camping fees, and general entrance reservations can be made up to one month in advance.
- Facilities include restrooms, picnic benches, canoe and kayak rentals, volleyball and basketball courts, two boat ramps, and a fish cleaning station. A state park store sells souvenirs, fishing supplies, ice, and soft drinks. Bring everything else you need with you.
- Bird watching is a highlight in this state park, so pack your binoculars.
