Beautiful campground - isolated, spacious, and great amenities. One of my favorites I've been to!

We went Father's Day weekend (mid-June) on a Saturday and were able to get a first-come site. It was fun to bring my kids to a place I camped as a child :) Also - a downpour as we set up our tent, as well as warm sunshine the following afternoon. It gets pretty cold even on summer nights, almost downto freezing sometimes. So come prepared for all types of weather, even if the forecast is pretty clear. The old growth forest is just beautiful, and we loved the loop hike to Silver Falls, the trail of which leaves from right near the Visitor Center. Our kids enjoyed the Junior Ranger program. Great location to launch into other exploration and hikes nearby. Also close to the short but popular (and must see, imho) Grove of the Patriarchs trail.

Lovely wooded campground. Unfortunately we were in site E1 with no privacy and lots of passing cars (within the campground, just at an intersection within a large campground). We tried to move to loop G or H, which are much less traveled, but it was hopeless to get one on a whim. They do not release campsites when people no-show, FYI.

Reservable and well maintained campground on east side of park, convenient visitors center at entrance of campground. The sites aren't huge or especially private (Typical Natl Park size), but the gorgeous old growth trees and river views are fantastic. Day use area also available along river. Beautiful place! Firewood available for purchase in the evenings from a truck making the rounds.

A little truck comes to sell firewoods once a day in the early evening. He drives through the loop. It was like $5 per bundle of good firewood. We learned it was better just to buy it from him instead of shopping in the city and bringing it all the way to the camp.

Bring water shoes to enjoy playing in the Ohanapecosh River. The stream is quite strong, a lot more powerful than it looks.
