We are not responsible for car or tire damage - so proceed with caution and stay on designated paths.  GREAT FOR A VARIETY OF LARGE PARTIES - inquire with the host. Absolutely NO HUNTING ALLOWED. We feed the deer. And the Longhorns! If you'd like to feed them too we can leave a bag of deer corn or cow cubes and you can feed them as well. Hand feeding the Longhorns is a true experience. The property is been completely fenced. Please close and secure gate after entering and exiting with the lock provided.  Code provided before arrival. Primitive tent camping, or if you want to go glamping you can bring an RV with a generator and be even more secluded but still have the comfortable amenities of an RV. IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN RV...no worries! Contact outdoorsy.com. you can rent an RV. They will deliver it, set it up and pick it up. Remember to ask for a generator. You don't have to bring wood. We got yuh covered! There is a porta potty at the dig site. We are currently working on getting an outside bathroom and shower area. Firepit musicians welcome! Bring your instruments! Bring bikes, dirt bikes, atv or mule. Rock hounds who love to pick up rocks will love this place. Photographers who enjoy taking pictures of nature and wildlife will love this! If you enjoy looking for treasures like Arrowheads and artifacts you can participate in one of our large screen digs. You can pay for large screen digs when you arrive and see how it works! Very nice if you can get a site near the gravel bar. It is impacted so choose your site carefully so you don't end up camping in a mud puddle! Shade, river, and an easy hike in all make this very worthwhile. No potable water, No fires are allowed, No toilets, but pets are allowed as long as they are on leash. (Potable water and toilets are in the main campground.)

The hike out to the primitive site is a gentle one, as others have said, but it is long enough to remove you from the sights and sounds of the drive-up campsites. Being located right on the river is a blessing and curse. We went over 4th of July weekend and it was hot as hell. Having the river right next to us was nice for cooling down and filtering water, saving us the need to hike it in with us. The flipside is that mosquitos and riverside bugs flocked to any source of light after the sun went down and the humidity was high. On the whole, I still enjoyed myself a lot and this park has so many great things to offer that it's worth the trouble. Just go in ready to sweat.

Primitive camp sites are slightly under a mile from the trailhead, and you must pack in all gear and water. The trail is shady and flat, so it's an easy hike for beginner back packers. Peeks of the river can be seen all along the trail, and the tail connects to other park trails that will take you to Gorman Falls. Camp sites are private and far enough apart that you will not see other campers (though you may hear them, so hopefully they are courteous).

This camping area is about one mile away from the main campground next to the visitor center. The area is beautiful and our group were the only group in the entire area. You do have to backpack in, however the hike in is very easy and worth it to be away from the crowds.

Fishing
