Hamilton Pool Vineyards & Farms

32 sites · RVs, Tents50 acres · Dripping Springs, TX
Only 2 miles from Hamilton Pool Preserve, Westcave Preserve and Reimers Ranch, we are nestled in one of the most ecologically diverse areas in Texas, not to mention being located in the heart of beautiful hill country. With a 65 acre slice of heaven, we have 2 acres of an Organic Regenerative Farm & a 10 acre Organic Vineyard and many trails that weave around our naturally oak-studded wooded property. The land itself has its own calming, peaceful energy and is far enough from city limits to be considered an Official Dark Night Sky so you can stargaze in lush meadows at our infinite galaxies above. We love preserving and celebrating nature as we incorporate and teach our regenerative and permaculture farming practices throughout our land. We have a full time nature academy and Farm School for kids and several livestock that call this land home. Our school does ask that we request campers do not venture near the farm during school hours Monday-Friday (9a-3p) for our students' safety. Our Tasting Room is open Thursday-Sunday where you can enjoy our delicious Texas wines hand picked by our Master Sommelier. We offer our Hipcampers a 10% discount in the tasting room while camping with us. If you plan to stay the weekend with us and want farm fresh goodies, check out our farm website and place a pickup order by that Wednesday and it will be available that Friday-Sun for pickup. We even have a ley line (earth's natural energetic grid system) that runs through our property which we have honored with our own labyrinth that has been blessed by a Lakota Shaman. Nearby Activities: Reimers Ranch hosts the most popular outdoor climbing spots in Texas along with equine and hiking trails. Hamilton Pool Preserve and Westcave Preserve offer hiking and education but require reservations. Car and biking enthusiasts enjoy the winding roads the weave through the beautiful, peaceful hills. For events or camping retreats, please contact us directly so we can best accommodate your group! jamie@hamiltonpoolvineyards.com

We are now offering daytime river access to the San Gabriel River! This is a secluded, hike to spot for fishing, swimming, grilling, picnicing, and hanging out during the day. Access to our river site is included in your camping fee, or we offer day passes for non-campers! There is no overnight camping on the San Gabriel River. All camping is at the main farm area and campers are able to come and go from the river site as they please. McDonald Farm sits in the historic farming community of Jonah, TX between Georgetown and Taylor on scenic Highway 29. McDonald Farm is named after the patriarch of the family, J.H. Mcdonald, who first acquired the property in 1911. The farm sits on the bank of the San Gabriel River and features a lush canopy of huge pecan trees, sprawling corn fields, prairie, and forest. We are a working farm! We primarily grow corn, but we also have livestock on the property. During daytime hours, you will likely see a variety of farm chores being completed. The best camping near Inks Lake State Park guide

Overview

About

Located an hour away from Austin, Inks Lake is perfect for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, scuba diving, fishing, water skiing, and boating. Cool off with a dip or dive off the granite cliffs around Devil’s Waterhole, a popular swimming and cliff jumping spot. Nine miles of hiking trails through rolling hills offer land-based fun, along with volleyball, geocaching, and picnicking. Birdwatchers can take advantage of blinds, while anglers can fish for bass, catfish, crappie, and sunfish, and use the convenient fish cleaning stations. The park’s campground offers nearly 200 campsites mostly along the lake, and includes everything from primitive to full hookup sites and camping cabins.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. All campsites, including cabins and primitive sites, can be reserved up to five months in advance. Make a reservation as soon as you know your dates.
  2. If your plans are flexible, try to visit during the week, during non-holiday periods, or in winter. The park, lake, and campgrounds are open year-round.
  3. If visiting as part of a group, consider the group camp, which can be reserved up to 12 months in advance.

When to go

Summer is the perfect time to cool off in Inks Lake, and go fishing, swimming, paddling, and boating. It’s also the most popular time of year, followed by spring, when wildflowers are in bloom. The lake and park are open year-round, so time your visit for winter to escape the crowds and take advantage of weekly and monthly rates for campsites.

Know before you go

  • The camp store rents canoes, kayaks, and pedal boats. Rangers offer paddling programs, and there is a no-wake zone for paddling.
  • Be careful when swimming or cliff jumping, as there are no lifeguards in the park.
  • Bring binoculars to see the many birds in the park.
  • Fishing licenses are not required when fishing from the two fishing piers and boat ramp, but are required if fishing from a boat.
  • Pets are not allowed in the cabin area or primitive camping area.
  • Leave your drones at home, as they’re not permitted inside the park.
