Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Montgomery Bell State Park adventure.
Three lakes and many miles of trails make this park the ideal setting for adventure.
Just 40 minutes from downtown Nashville, Montgomery Bell State Park serves as an outdoor oasis for city dwellers and vacationers alike. Hikers can follow some of the 19 miles of trails that wind their way through the 3,850-acre park’s lush forests and past rocky rivers—trails range from gentle to moderate levels of difficulty and include a 10-mile overnight route—while bikers can enjoy around 23 miles of dirt mountain bike trails through thickly forested hills. Three lakes are nestled into the park, providing opportunities for swimming, boating and paddling on calm waters and there’s even a golf course. Montgomery Bell Campground has 109 sites for tents and RVs.
In the peak summer season, Montgomery Bell State Park enjoys sunny days with temperatures typically in the 80s. If you visit between Memorial and Labor day weekends, you can cool off at the swim beach on Lake Acorn. Winter temperatures can drop to the high 40s, but there are plenty of activities, such as birdwatching and hiking, that can be done year-round.
