This is a great place to begin your Northern Arizona adventures, gather with family and friends, rest your body and spirit, or stop over on your road trip. This is a unique site and we want our guests to be happy and comfortable. PLEASE REVIEW THE FULL SITE DESCRIPTION and AMENITIES BEFORE REQUESTING A RESERVATION. Unlike typical RV parks, we offer a full acre for your private camping experience; you do not have to share this site with others. The area is fully fenced so you, your well-behaved dogs and kids can run free. The privacy and amenities – somewhere between “rustic” and “glamping” – make Rogue’s Rendezvous a unique space and an excellent staging ground for gatherings and area adventures. Rogue’s Rendezvous is off the beaten path but easy to access (on a well-maintained dirt road) and close to many area points of interest. The property is located off Historic Route 66 (Interstate 40) between Williams and Flagstaff, and an hour south of the Grand Canyon (south entrance). We welcome clean, respectful campers to enjoy our "happy place." The property is in a shady and quiet pine-studded development and is accessed via a sliding gate (somewhat heavy to open). The site is gently sloping with red earth driveways and has three spaces to easily park various RV types with hookups (including electrical and septic only, NO WATER); the RV “carport” that is adjacent to the covered deck can accommodate RVs less than 13 ft high. Full instructions and a site map with hookup locations will be sent with check-in instructions. NOTES: KNOW BEFORE YOU GO! - CELLand Internet Service: This area is somewhat remote, but does have limited cell service – calls are ok, texts work, but texting images or media may not be possible. There is NO WI-FI or internet service here. This is a great opportunity to disconnect and enjoy being “off the grid.” - ELEVATION: We are at an elevation of approximately 6400 feet. Take care of yourself to avoid altitude sickness! Drink lots of water, rest plenty, and pay attention to your body. - WEATHER: The weather can change dramatically throughout the day and the year here. Please come prepared for anything, and please check expected conditions prior to camping. Winter conditions may prevent site access between October and April. - There are TRAIN TRACKS nearby (approx. ¼ mile away), and we can hear the humming of passing trains, both during the day and at night. We do not find it problematic (our kids don’t even notice) and some of us find trains fun and exciting (we enjoy watching the train crossing a couple of miles down the road). The park is a short drive to downtown Flagstaff, and on the way to the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Lake Powell, Moab and Durango. Stay the night or as long as you like! Drink in the hibiscus sunrises above the Painted Desert and relax into the long shadows of the San Francisco Peaks. The wood stove kicks out a ton of heat to keep you toasty while you sip on steamy hot chocolate that is provided for your enjoyment. Gather around the propane operated firepit in the backyard for some R&R. Bring a hammock 'cuz there are unlimited opportunities for stringing one up! Tons of activities will keep you occupied, including hiking and biking on the nearby Arizona Trail (just 1/2 mile away), or even sledding on your very own private 2 acre piece of paradise! What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The property is completely off the grid, making it very appealing to those travelers and adventurers who want to create a minimal carbon footprint on their vacation. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by. During a snowy period, access may require either cross country skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling to the property from the main highway (approx 2.1 miles). If you get stuck on the road it will be your own responsibility. Please check with the owner a couple days prior to your visit to check on road conditions during the winter! Pets must be well behaved and cleaned up after, including excessive animal hair. Leash laws apply to Coconino National Forest. Please do not book the Glamper Cabin if you plan to bring a pet which is known to be aggressive or unpredictable in nature, including breeds or mixed breeds such as pitbulls, rottweilers, bullmastiff and American Bulldog. This is a small 30’x50’ back in space situated in the heart of downtown Flagstaff that has full power and water hookups. This space is ideal for smaller class C vehicles or vans, trailers are just harder to back in with the gate being closer to narrow street but possible. My 20’ camp trailer is what is shown in picture, I used alleyway to get a better angle to back in. Double gate measures about 11’ wide when fully open. Whole area has a tall privacy fence around and grass for any pets you may have. Just a short walk separates you from Thorpe park, fishing pond, downtown bars and breweries, the Orpheum, Lowell observatory, and so much more! This is a quiet and peaceful neighborhood that values its residents and unique culture. Please be respectful of the neighbors and observe quiet times of 10pm and dark sky requirements laid out by the city.

About

Sunset Crater many get its name from the volcanic rim's brilliant red rocks, but there's more to explore see than just the volcano. The park also contains unique geologic features like lava fields and cinder deposits. Features so unique that NASA astronauts once used this area to practice piloting the lunar rover!

Start your journey at the visitor center, where you can watch a quick video exploring the history and formation of the volcano. Traveling with children? Pick up a Junior Ranger Book so kids can complete activities and earn a Junior Ranger badge.

From the visitor's center, walk the Lava's Edge Trail which passes by the Bonito Lava Flow. The trail then carries on to the main attraction—Sunset Crater. Due to erosion, hiking to the top is prohibited. Instead, you can hike near the base on the Lava Flow Trail. This one-mile loop trail also has amazing views of the nearby San Francisco Peaks, the highest mountain range in Arizona.
