Learn more about this land: Rustic bunkie located on 2 acres, is nestled among the trees beside a small, crystal clear lake. With 700 ft of untouched shoreline, privacy is second to none. From this lake, you can access 3 other lakes by provided canoe/kayak without portage. The site is 35 min. from Algonquin Park and 11 km from MKC, the world-famous white water paddling centre. 10x10 main floor with sleeping loft. Solar power provides lighting & a propane furnace for cool nights. Solar lights outside provide ambient lighting-may be turned off if preferred. The call of the loons & the barred owl will be your lullaby as you drift off to sleep after a day of hiking, paddling, or swimming.  There is no running water, you will have to bring your own drinking water. You will need to bring everything you require for cooking, eating and washing dishes. There is no sink, stove, or BBQ on site. As the site is off-grid, there are no appliances. There is a split log bench beside the self-contained fire pit.  Please bring your own firewood, matches/lighter,  and/or firestarter materials. Small fires only please, as this is a well-treed location. Fires must be extinguished prior to going to bed — there is a bucket by the firepit. If you are wondering if something is there, I suggest you reach out to check with me before arrival. There is a new private outhouse on site. The outhouse is past the bunkie along the path. Solar lights work with the flick of a switch — one switch by the door, one by the bed. You have access to 2 kayaks and 1 canoe, 2 adult lifejackets. These are located on the waterfront between the bunkie and the house @260 Matcheski Road. Please return these as you found them after each use. They are shared with the guests at the house. It is a natural shoreline at the bunkie, with a sandy bottom — pretty good swimming, actually! Absolutely no harsh chemicals/detergents in the water! Please leave the site tidy and as you found it. Take your garbage and recycling. This is a small lakeside community —  no loud music, please. Respect the solitude!  Please respect the natural setting — leave it as you found it, do not cut live growth.

Perched on a west-facing cliff at The Off Grid Ark, our rustic shelter is now fully winter-ready. A whisper-quiet diesel heater, mounted safely outside, keeps the cabin toasty warm all night while you sleep surrounded by nature. Outside, a propane deck heater makes it easy to enjoy coffee or dinner under the stars. We’ve also added a Cuisinart tabletop propane BBQ, which cooks faster and cleaner than the old jet grill — perfect for winter gloves and quick meals. We have snowshoes for rent and 10 km of groomed snowshoe trails winding through maple forest, ridges, and lakeshores — the same trails used for Canada’s longest-running snowshoe and trail race series, The Mad Trapper. I’m also hoping to cut a new backcountry ski loop this winter at the top of the escarpment for adventurous guests. The shelter includes a queen bed with fresh linens and a down duvet, plus space for tents around the firepit if you’d like a group setup. Kids and pets stay free, just leave it like you found it. The covered deck has handcrafted rocking chairs for lingering over sunsets, while your private fire area sits just below — perfect for roasting marshmallows or watching the stars. Hammocks are tucked into quiet corners for lazy afternoons or stargazing at night. We’re also building a new bunkhouse nearby for families and groups — another step toward making The Ark a year-round destination for outdoor education and adventure. There’s no electricity or running water, but you’ll have remote-control and desktop LED lights, a Jackery battery bank to keep devices charged, and a Bluetooth speaker for music or podcasts. A cooler, lanterns, jugs of clean well water, and a clean outhouse are provided. Wildlife is plentiful — deer, foxes, loons, and the occasional wolf howl in the distance. I’ll haul your gear by ATV, so bring what you need and settle in. Come unplug, warm up, and experience the stillness of winter at The Off Grid Ark — where comfort meets true off-grid adventure.

4WD/ATV or walk-in access only with a rough 2km of road to access campsites. Campsites are located along remote undeveloped lake with clear mostly spring-fed water. Sites are located further down on the lake where you will be able to drive to with the appropriate vehicle (listed above). To access swimming water, you will need to boat out into the lake a bit as the sites are located in a low-water area. Great for snorkeling and swimming, but to get out further into the lake where the best areas are for both these activities you will need a watercraft (paddle boards, canoes, kayaks, or small boats). On the lake itself is an island commonly used for nesting birds, and the water is both clean and clear. There is also endless ATV trails adjacent to the property, so there is more to enjoy than just the lake itself.

My family and I stayed in one of the bell tents at Agape Gardens. It was super clean and very well decorated. It was so inviting and cosy. Jennie smudged the tent prior to us arriving which is such an honour to have done. Jennie and her beautiful family welcomed us with a tour of the property, which we found to be extremely well looked after. From the brimming gardens, healthy live stock, well established hiking trail, to the multiple options of sites to camp at, we were very impressed. We felt at home immediately and wished we could’ve stayed longer. We also met her neighbours who were also very friendly people and jumped to help us fix some toys we had with us. We will most definitely visit this special place again. An easy 5 star review. Many thanks Jennie and Jeremy.

We had an absolutely lovely, relaxing time at Mike's cabin this weekend. The cabin is the perfect blend of rustic and cozy, with many thoughtful little amenities that made us feel at home right away and eliminated the stress of packing compared to traditional tent camping. We were lucky enough to book with fall colours in full force and were treated to stunning sunset views both nights. With enough hiking trails and wilderness to explore to your heart's content, there was plenty of opportunity to mix in some adventure. We are eagerly looking forward to coming back soon and experiencing what winter at the cabin has to offer!

Lovely spot- very relaxing, amazing view, friendly hosts. we loved the bell tent, although we were there on the first night of October, so it got a bit chilly in the evening- luckily there were extra blankets. We were only there for one night, so didn’t get a chance to try out all of the extras but definitely would book more time on a return visit.

Our micro brewery is located here because of our springs. The campsites are within walking distance to the brewery. The sites are in the forest with either a view of the pond, of Cartwrights Creek or of the Ottawa valley from a hillside. We have short hiking trails, some outdoor games such as horseshoes or beach volleyball, and we have beer. Contact Andre by texting 613-295-3377 FIRE: You must contact Andre before lighting a fire so a permit can be acquired. No fires before 6. GARBAGE: Please collect garbage and bring it with you. We unfortunately cannot accept garbage at the brewery. The municipality limits us to one bag and we have animals that would love to rip through your garbage bag before I can get to it. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE GARBAGE HERE! FOOD... don't leave food out for animals to get overnight... If you don't have a car you can put your food in the silo by the brewery... animals can't get in there!
