We spend a weekend at David's property and loved it. The sites are well placed on the property around the pond. There are canoes paddle boats and boards for your use. Ample firewood is included as well as a dozen farm fresh eggs. David was a wonderful host and very attentive to his beautiful property. We had a great time walking on some.of the pathes with our dogs. Also my wife really appreciated the flush toilet in the outhouse! What a great touch. 10/10

Absolutely perfect for our first time using my Old (new to us) pop up trailer. I went with two friends and loved the site. We went on the paddle boat, hiked around the trails, went fishing and relaxed by the fire. David is an Amazing host. His property is gorgeous and he is very welcoming. Can’t wait to go back with friends and family.

We had an amazing stay! The property was spotless, private, and beautifully maintained. We loved the thoughtful touches throughout the cabin—it truly had everything we needed. The outdoor sitting areas were so cozy, and we had a blast playing badminton. The short walk to a lovely beach was the cherry on top. Gisele and Vic were wonderful hosts. The cabin was cute, cozy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The beach, just a two-minute walk away, was absolutely beautiful. The kayaks are fun and the perfect way to get out on the water. The firewood bundle was amazing—packed with plenty of wood, kindling, and paper, making it the best value you’ll find. The area is peaceful and quiet, yet close to lots of nearby attractions. A perfect getaway spot!

First, let me say I would 100% recommend this beautiful place! Whether you are seeking a place to play and have fun with family, or a quiet space to relax by a fire, sit, reflect, journal, or mindfully walk the well kept and beautiful paths on the property or down the road, on your own, with a another (human or furry!), this place will meet your needs. Situated just a kilometre plus from the entrance to the amazing Mono Cliffs Provincial Park, this space offers many opportunities to hike, picnic, walk part of the Bruce Trail, or enjoy the spacious campsite and nearby pond at your fingertips. Donna, is a kind and friendly human who went above and beyond as host. This being my first HipCamp trip, I didn’t know what to expect. Donna met us when we arrived, brought a wheelbarrow full of firewood (a small fee) down to our site, and showed us the property explaining what is nearby and offering a map if we wanted one. She then wished us well and left us to enjoy the time we had booked in privacy.(She also greeted Lucy warmly, and, well, that says it all :-)). The RV/tent/Car space is large and level, grassy with lots of large trees and shrubs around. The fire pit, chairs, outhouse and pond are located slightly below the tent area. Lucy was able to be off leash enjoying running and playing around the site, and lounging by the fire with me after a nice hike into the woods. Electricity is available at the site, convenient for keeping electronics charge! Thank you!

A dreamy little nook, and so close to the city ! The property is just beautiful and the cabin and little kitchenette had everything we needed and more. There was a really positive energy from the land and the fields. And Angie and Bob went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. I highly recommend the Kota dinner, it was such a highlight. Thanks Angie and Bob for sharing so much of yourselves and your world with us, what a beautiful memory we take with ourselves, we just wish we had stayed longer !

Like most folks who’ve been bitten by the water ski bug, I dreamed of having my own lake and when I met my life partner Harald, an elite slalom skier, my search began in earnest. By a combination of good timing and good luck, I was able to make that dream come true and in the spring of 2014 I acquired this land with the hopes of building my dream water ski lake on it. 7 years later, we have a thriving water ski club and are constantly making improvements to the site. We now have decided to add some sites for rent to share this incredible property with others outside the water ski community. Site #1 is a small cabin that sleeps 3 and site #2 is a small houseboat that has been converted to a bunkie. Onsite activities include use of a canoe and paddleboard. It was 1984 when John found his ‘diamond in the rough’, 20 acres with an orchard on the outskirts of Brantford. O.K., so the house was nothing to write home about but perfect for building a construction yard…no neighbors except for the family across the road that used their property to build log homes. By 1987 the old house was gone, a new one was being built and a shop for working on heavy equipment had been located about 200 ft. from Dr. the back door. It wasn’t until 1996 that things changed very much. Yes, the property around the house had benefitted from a wide array of trees and shrubs that John saved from the construction/demolition jobs he had done and that still thrive today but no big projects (except for equipment purchases) were ongoing. A chance meeting with the neighbor across the road one day resulted in the following dinner conversation, ‘How was your day’ I chirped. ‘Not bad, so-and-so didn’t come in; the truck broke down and I took it for repair; I bought the property across the road, and oh, yeah I’ll need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ was John’s casual reply. ‘What was that’? I pressed. ‘Yes, I need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ he repeated with a bit more volume. Of course like anyone, I had questions, ‘Do you want peas or corn with dinner’? ‘What time do you want to go to get the truck’? ‘The property across the road’, 10 acres, still has the 4 storey barn with its twin tiled silos which was built in 1914 and the big white house with wrap around porch that once was home to a Doctor and his family. Built so the Doctor could see his patients in the front with the family living in the back was very common in the day. Things remained relatively peaceful until 2000 when after studying alpacas for more than 6 years I bought our first three. Back in 2000 alpacas and llamas were not frequently seen on farms and because they could been seen from the road they received A LOT of attention. People driving by would stop and ask about them, ask if they could take a picture or two and that was when I would hear over and over again ‘You have a beautiful place here, I wish I/we could stay’. Well, if you want to visit and stay in the city it’s doable, we call it a hotel. But visiting a farm and staying well, that isn’t so easy. Each year we would see more and more families coming to ‘The Farm’ as they would call it. Some came to see the alpacas and horses, some came for a stroll and to check out the horse drawn milk and bread delivery wagons, some to have family birthday parties, others to have engagement/wedding/Christmas card pictures…and so many asked if there was any way they could spend a day or two. In 2021 during a conversation with a friend I mentioned we were in the process of gutting the 1100 sq. ft. space downstairs and turning it into an Airbnb! Right away she said, ‘I don’t know why you don’t have a Hipcamp? You’ve got that great area by the new barn that Hipcampers would love’! After a little investigation I found out what a Hipcamp was…and as they say, the rest is future.

Our 14 acre property is a quiet oasis on several biking trails (G2G, Cottonwood Road, Trans Canada Trail) and a very short drive to famous Elora (7 min) and St. Jacobs (20 min), access to several Grand River launch sites, many nearby hiking trails, and countless Mennonite farmers markets with fresh produce, baked goods, meats, cheeses, and preserves. We have a beautiful green acreage with a picturesque pond, next to Cox Creek and privacy with open and treed space and the promise of gorgeous sunsets almost every night. This is a very private little slice of heaven that I've been pleased to steward for over 25 years. If you love the sound of frogs singing, and bullfrogs plucking their banjo strings, red-winged blackbirds trilling, you will love it here. The property is literally right across the road from the Mono Cliffs Provincial Park which boasts amazing trails, views and features the Niagara Escarpment. The 4-acre pond/wetland is designated 'Provincially Significant' by the Ministry of Natural Resources and is an important part of the Nottawasaga Watershed. This area is renowned for its terrain - the fields are rolling and the views are quite special. You will enjoy a private firepit and private overlook at the pond with hammock. The site isn't visible from the road. Our house is visible from the site but far enough away as to not disturb one another. We have a newly added outhouse with lighting that will make your stay comfortable.

Come stay next to the beach! This beautiful rustic cabin sits on a treed lot with privacy. The cabin includes a double Murphy bed, we supply all bedding. A Cot is available for a third person. The cabin is air-conditioned, has a small sitting area, fridge, Keurig coffee machine, and heater for the cooler nights in the fall. Fire wood is available for $ 5.00 a bundle. The washroom facilities include a hot shower ( bring your towels) and composting toilet within steps of the cabin. There is a propane BBQ and a Gazebo. There is a beach and a public park a couple minute walk from the cabin. There is a 100 km bike trail within a 5-minute bike ride from the cabin. We offer the use of bikes, and kayaks when available and weather permitted. Grocery stores, restaurants, and small shops, are all centrally located within ten minutes from cabin. While you are in town you can watch Lakers and Ocean Boats go through the canal. Within 15 minute is Ridgeway and Crystal Beach which offers concerts, beaches and activities. We are centrally located, approximately 25 minutes from Niagara Falls attractions like casino, museums, zip lining, jet boat tours, hiking in the gorge and other major attractions.

We purchased this farm in 1998 from the previous farmer who had owned it since 1929. The train line ran right by the gate where the Kota hut now sits and would drop cattle right there to be finished and sold later at the Toronto Stockyards. Our barn was built in 1890 with the old farmhouse located across the creek. Two creeks meet the Grand River on our farm. The bunkie is situated north of the barn and faces Willow creek. During the summer the creek gets quite shallow but there are a couple of pools that work nicely for a float with our river tubes. The river also has a small swimming hole. The bunkie is nestled between 2 hills which creates a natural little valley. Campers can take a walk around the property or use the nearby long walking trail. New this spring, campers will be able to enjoy the firewood sauna, located close to the bunkie and nestled in a private spot near the creek.

About

With many interpretive programs and amenities near ravines and marshland, Bronte Creek Provincial Park combines convenience with the outdoors. Separated by Bronte Creek, the day-use areas and campground are separate—the east site has a huge day-use area with a 1.8-acre pool, playground, and playbarn, while the campground side, open from April to October, has 400+ roomy sites. Visitors can enjoy disc golf or hiking one of the four hiking trails through the Bronte Creek Valley in summer and tobogganing, cross-country-skiing, and snowshoeing near the ravine in winter. The Spruce Lane Farm House is a living history museum demonstrating early farm life including live farm animals.

Notable campgrounds

Best for ravine exploring: It’s easy to dip your toes into the creek from nearby Woodland and Ravine campgrounds. Ravine sites also have more privacy than the rest.
Best for groups: If you’re here for a large family gathering, the Prairie Campground is closest to the group camping, as well as the camp store and off-leash dog trail.
Best for larger RVs: The Prairie loop is created to fit larger RVs but is suitable for tents and smaller RVs as well.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Mid-week is less busy during the summer months.
Holiday weekends are busy, so book on shoulder season or midweek for less competition.
Online bookings open five months in advance at 7am. Have alternate sites ready in case yours are taken.

When to go

Located near apple orchards, Bronte Creek is great to visit in fall for the colours and quieter off-season. Spring is a great time to catch sight of the hundreds of owls, merlin, and hawks in the park, and even better, springtime is when most of the farmstead’s baby animals are born. The large day-use area opposite of the campground is open year-round.

Know before you go

RV electrical outlets can be far from the RV—bring a long extension cord.
If planning to hike, bring some water-resistant boots and rain gear, as trails are notoriously muddy and slippery in spring. The ravine is deep at points (up to 50 metres straight down) so wear proper shoes and tread carefully.
Bring bikes to zoom around the campground on the crushed gravel road.
Bronte has two leash-free dog areas: one half-kilometre loop in the day-use area and a two-kilometre loop at the north section of the campground.
