Great views of Lake Mcdonald. Unfortunately being so close to the West Glacier entrance means a lot of cars will be passing by. Regardless, the small beach access makes this place unforgettable, definitely a top spot in West Glacier for camping.
Wooded sites in a beautiful setting.
This is a beautiful campground that, when we went, was completely empty. There was one electric site available. The sites were spacious and beautiful. One interesting thing to keep in mind is that cows Roman to freely throughout the campground so there were Cow pies to be dodged. Despite that we enjoy Ourselves immensely.
Hard to find the showers! Chilly since it's deep in the trees but nice
A very nice campground to spend some time at while in Glacier. We went early June so we were able to get a campground near the beach which was beautiful during the sunsets and the weather was great early summer. There is some traffic as it's a popular campground but when we were there, fellow campers were respectful of quiet hours. It is on the West side of Lake McDonald, so it's important to include a little extra driving time if you are planning to go on hikes in the more touristy area (East side). It's a great area to have some relaxing hikes along the lake whether it's the shoreline or path starting from the campground.
We stayed here in Fish Creek Campground for seven nights this past summer, and it was more than we could have ever asked for. You are right in the heart of nature with the serene Lake McDonald right at your fingertips. The camp hosts and rangers are awesome and totally on it. They patrol the campgrounds throughout the day to ensure the safety of everyone in the park. As this campground is in bear country, be sure that you keep any food items locked away in a bear box or your car. This campground is about a 2-5 minute drive to Apgar Visitor Center and Apgar Village. As others have mentioned, this campground fills up FAST, so book at LEAST 6 months in advance.
We have camped in Glacier many times and we like Fish Creek because you can reserve your site. We love the C loop because it is a "generator free" zone. Site C112 is great because of the easy access to Lake McDonald and it is still close to the restrooms. Perfect place to swim and snorkel in the lake! Don't forget to bring your kayaks and paddle boards. Truly amazing to go kayaking on the lake at midnight under the light of a full moon.
Great little campground, but it fills up quick! I have camped here for years and love the campground for how quiet it is and how much there is to do right there! The campground is great for kids to explore on their bikes, there are some great hikes and trail runs that leave right from the parking lot and you are right on the lake for water fun! The campground is only a few minutes from the village if you need some supplies or want to grab dinner there, too.
