It’s a bumpy ride on a rad dirt road to Bowman Lake Campground, but half the fun is getting there.

Once you arrive, you will be amazed by the solitude and stellar views! Set near the shores of Bowman Lake you’ll be wise to pack your bug spray, but mosquitos and water only mean one thing...killer fishing, boating, and lake adventures just steps away from your site! Water and restrooms are available, as well as a picnic area in a pristine meadow with beautiful mountain views. The arrival and sites are not recommended for RVs, but tent campers and van lifers will bask in the glory of quiet, shady spots. With lots of hiking and nearby exploring, you'll experience the best of Glacier, at Bowman Lake.

Come enjoy peace and quiet in the beautiful meadows near our home. We are located on 40 acres that include forested trails, a large pond, two small ponds, a creek, and frequent wildlife as well as spectacular stargazing at night. All sites have a campfire ring and picnic table. We provide a unique eco-camping experience in contrast to the crowded campground/RV park, and we are only 6 miles away from the entrance to Glacier National Park! Please let us know if you have multiple tents or vehicles as some sites may be a better choice for you than others. No hookups are provided – dry camping only. Parking for larger vehicles/trailers is available at sites 1-6 - an open, flat meadow with the pond on the other side of the road. Tents are welcome in all sites; although, we recommend the back meadow sites (7 and up) for more secluded tent campers (especially in July) as it has less traffic and more privacy. Sites 7-20 (the back meadow sites) have parking for vehicles 26' or less in total length. All sites have access to vault toilets, and all sites are back-in sites with partial shade. Because of the proximity to Glacier National Park and the main HWY, traffic noise and train noise can be heard at the campsites. Visitors are ask to keep their speed to a minimum to reduce dust on the dirt on Greens Road. We are just a short bike ride away (two minutes by car) from attractions such as the Whiskey Barn, The Paul Bunyan Bar & grill, Glacier Hi-Line Ropes Course, and the Amazing Fun Center, maze, and mini golf. It is also easy access to the Gateway to Glacier Bike path. E-bike rentals are across the street from us. Closest Gas station is the Cenex in Coram (1.5 mi away). Closest public (free) landfill dump is 2.2 miles toward Columbia Falls at 9626 Us HWY 2 E. Near Paul Bunyan Bar and Grill (which is also a good restaurant near us). Look for the gated entry and small sign marking Flathead Landfill. Closest grocery is in Hungry Horse at Canyon Foods Grocery (3.5 miles away). There is a laundromat next to this grocery store. Closest dump and water fill up for a vehicle with a holding tank is Mikes Conoco at 1645 9th st W in Columbia Falls (8.9 mi away). Closest town with wifi, cafes, restaurants, urgent care and larger grocery stores is Columbia Falls (9 miles away). We sell solar shower bags, sun screen, card games, cream soda, frisbees, bug spray, coffee, firewood, and more at Sam and Molly's mercantile by our house in the middle of our property. This rolling wooded property in a "hollow" was once a large herb farm serving the surrounding area. The foundation of the original homestead still sits in the trees in one corner of the property! Now it is a quiet, secluded, yet convenient recreational spot serving as a home base for visitors to Glacier National Park, Flathead Lake, Whitefish Mountain, and other natural wonders in the area. Brad and Sarah Harris, your hosts, frequent the property, as they prepare the land to build custom log cabins for rent. You’re also likely to meet Drake, the beloved camp dog, greeting you when you arrive. Learn more about this land: Camp on this secluded, park-like slice of heaven just 7 miles outside Glacier National Park. This private recreation land is nestled away from the main road, and surrounded by mature trees and peekaboo mountain views. Level, easily-accessible sites are spaced among the aspens and lodgepole pines. It's rare to find a place this secluded so close to the park. The location is perfect as your home base while exploring Glacier National Park and the surrounding area. The 3-acre partially-wooded property is great for relaxing after your day, walking dogs, playing yard games, and enjoying the views. This location was once a large herb farm, so you may discover oregano and other familiar herbs now growing wild throughout the area. Despite being secluded, these campsites are just 11 miles from Columbia Falls, where you can stock up on groceries or check out local restaurants and bars. The property is also nearby Glacier Distilling Company along with zip lines and other family attractions. Sites are level grass pads, with electric hookups (50, 30, and 20 amp) and water. There is no septic service, but there are several nearby public dump stations. There is decent cell signal for most carriers, and wifi in the property. There is a gravel road to the sites from the main road. Please note this property is not suitable for large groups or loud parties; we ask that visitors please respect the neighbors and other guests who come to enjoy the peace and serenity of the Montana wilderness. The Mooseshroom is an awesome camping community that is just 7 miles from the west side of Glacier National Park. Community fire pits near the Commons are a short walk from whichever tent spot guests are assigned. The Commons also houses the bathrooms and inside/outside kitchen areas. There is plenty of seating, hammocks and picnic tables for guests to use as well. We also have two yurts available for booking on our property. The Mooseshroom is a licensed business that is limited to hosting 18 guests per night. Guests should expect a quiet, peaceful camping experience with plenty of room to enjoy their surroundings. ***This property is adjacent Highway 2 and there is a fair amount of road noise. There's also a train that's fairly close. The noise kinda comes with the territory, guests are also 10 minutes from the west entrance to the park. The noise does tend to subside considerably at night, but for those bothered by this type of noise, you might consider an alternate location. Most guests are truly fine with it.

These campsites are located off of the highway between Whitefish and Kalispell. It is a beautiful little ranch with horses, chickens and ducks! The tent sites are close enough to the highway where you can hear some traffic, but it usually quiets down in the evening. We are 5 minutes from Whitefish/Big Mountain, 15 minutes from Glacier National Airport, about 45 to Glacier National Park, and about 30 minutes to Flathead Lake. Plenty of things to see and do nearby!

Absolutely beautiful location. Be warned: the water is cold at almost any time of the year, so swim at your own risk. Regardless, if you're lucky enough to have clear waters, the reflections of the mountains is near perfect.

Our family of 5 (three kids, two adults) stayed at Bowman Lake in mid-July. The general info you can find on-line is accurate...Bowman is OUT there on dusty bumpy roads, the lake is 100 yards from the campsites, and it's generally pretty quiet. A few other bits: The hosts are great. They'e have a welcome tent with info on bear activity, trails, forest fires, fauna, and a set of kids toys. The lake is clear, rocky bottom, and very swimmable. Get in! Easy trail access from the camp. But if you want to drive Road to the Sun or hike the more popular trails, expect a 45-1 hour drive from Bowman to get there.

This is campground is an all around winner. After bumping down the Outside Northfork Road out of the west end of Glacier National Park you cross over the Flathead River at a tiny town called Polebridge, MT. Be sure to stop at the Polebridge Mercantile and enjoy some of the best pastries you have ever had (seriously this no hyperbole, look it up!). After you get you fill cross over the replacement of the original polebridge that the town was named for and check in a the small ranger station at this entrance of the park. Head down the road a few more miles to get to the campground. Check in with the host and make sure to heed all warning as this is Grizzly country and those bears mean business. The view of the lake alone is worth the drive.
