The park is known as one of the state’s best spots for bird watching, so bring your binoculars and practice those bird calls (there’s an app for that).

If you are arriving by use of the Root River Trail, it is much easier to find the trail during daylight. The trail is an unmarked, minimally maintained horse trail. It took some keen navigation skills to find.
