Welcome to Sandstone Ranch where you'll find yourself surrounded with all of the high desert beauty it has to offer. Wake up and wind down to beautiful pastel sunrises and sunsets. Explore the stunning rock formations and steep cliff sides that lead into seasonal river beds. You'll be surrounded by juniper trees, pine trees, sagebrush and cactus. With numerous rivers and secluded access to Starvation Reservoir you can enjoy many recreational activities such as Fishing, Boating, Kayaking, Jet Skiing, ATV off-roading, hiking, mountain biking. You can rent Paddle boards or other camping gear/goods from us for an extra fee. We also offer a personal off roading tour for those who seek a unique adventure with our Sand Dune Jeep Safari. Our family of 6 took the leap and left the city life in order to reconnect to the land on this 11 acre property. We are in the beginnings of our homestead journey and hope to create a space for guests like you to enjoy our animal rescue, camp retreats for groups, classes on herbalism and camp for kids where they can learn basic survival skills. It is this love for nature and the gifts that it offers to us all that we want to share our land with others. We currently offer 1 Tent Site with a fire pit and an outhouse. There is also a large flat pad for parking an RV or if you're wanting to camp out of your vehicle you are free to use this space. We will be expanding and offering more sites in the coming months. This is wilderness camping so be aware that there is wildlife and that roads are bumpy. We have 4 curious dogs that may check you out, they are friendly however may bark and if you have pets of your own let us know so we can keep them from pestering you. Please contact us with any special requests or questions and we'll be happy to assist you.*Please stay off Cryptobiotic Soil (Refer to photos), also known as biological soil crust. This benefits the ecosystem in many ways and preserves the land for future campers to enjoy its natural beauty. Camp Cactus greets you with a short bridge entrance along an ambient lighted path up to a small cleared tent site. With a tent pad size of 12' x 13', this site is ideal for 2-4 guests. If you have additional guests please inquire to check availability. Here you will find beautiful landscape of yucca plants and cypress trees nuzzled around your campsite. Spend the evening relaxing around a fire pit and enjoy the perfect 360 views of the Mesas on a private corner of the property. Guests can enjoy exploring the 11 acres of property and afterwards take a break and play some horseshoes! Please note that there may be other campers on the property that may be visible in the communal areas. Conveniently located less than 2 minutes walk away is a composting toilet with hand washing station.

Desert vibe with quiet setting
Tent
Nice peaceful setting surrounded by beautiful sights of rocks, red sand and foliage. My Google maps took me right to the parking area with no problem, and I had coverage while there which was a plus to watch the weather report. Small compost outhouse was lit during the night and such a nice touch during my stay- I got rained on a lot! Even with the rain the area had nice drainage and little boardwalk bridges over the natural gutters. I did have a quick visit from the local dogs which made my pup nervous- but when I told them to go they listened and there was absolutely no problem at all. The parking area is for several campsites which branch out from there, all with flat tent spots and a fire ring. I was car camping and had plenty of space to set up, on the edge of the parking area facing my campsite. Due to the rain being much more than I had anticipated I didn’t get to enjoy the fire ring but it was such a comfy desert spot I would have loved that! A nice quiet place that almost feels like dispersed camping- but with the bonus of an outhouse and fire pits ready to go.

This is the Place.
Tent · Group trip
It was a nice campground away from all traffic sounds and the stars are very visible at night. The bathroom area was well built and unique; never saw one built like it. The Host greeted me upon arrival; but that’s because I accidentally drove onto their property. I can tell they tend to the sites often as no trash or ‘unsightly’ stuff was hanging about. Great site; great price. It was worth the drive.

Beautiful stay on the Ranch!!
Tent
My partner and I absolutely loved our stay at Sandstone Ranch! We brought our 27ft camper and parked no problem. There are about three miles of dirt road so be prepared for that, but the directions to the property were super clear and easy to navigate. During our stay we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, it was so peaceful and quiet, perfect spot to unwind and connect! We had a blast on the jeep safari excursion with Joe and Kimsha, definitely worth it to be able to see the area and get to know the owners! They are both super compassionate about what they are doing on the property and just want to share it with others. We would love to stay here again in the future!
