Well maintained, peaceful
7 m travel trailer · With pets · Ben's camp was great--one site with a level, gravel area, full hook up with view of the Juniata River. There was plenty of room to turn around but we found pulling right up to the hook ups worked best. There were neighbors on each side but far enough away to still be peaceful and private. River Road runs along the Juniata and is a nice walk.
Try Harshbarger's Sub n Malt in Mcveytown for a casual meal and homemade ice cream or Shy Bear Brewery in Lewistown for craft beer and live music. Boalsburg has a Farmer's Market on Tuesdays, May to Nov. (40-45 min drive) Yes, there are chickens, roosters and a guinea hen, but we loved them. And yes, you'll hear the freight trains running. That's America, folks.
Just a note, if you're coming from the south on 103, Google directions will instruct you to turn on Anderson Rd. Follow Ben's directions and wait for Granville Rd. You'll end up in the same spot, but the angle of his driveway will make the turn near impossible with a trailer unless you're coming in from Granville.
