I grew up in the Philadelphia area and in 2002, I followed my calling and moved out to Portland, OR. I am a nature lover and enjoy everything that the Pacific Northwest has to offer -- the mountains, unlimited hiking and biking trails, beautiful lakes and rivers. Not to mention the abundance of good IPAs, coffee and delicious food.  Over the years, I camped in several places in the area and always dreamed of owning a cabin near Mt. Hood. In 2008, my dream came true when I purchased my cabin and land in ZigZag. I am very excited to share this magical place with you and hope that you enjoy your time!Relax and unwind in our custom built, one-of-kind cabin. The cabin is nestled up on a forested hill above our main cabin. It's sits on 4 acres of private wooded land, bordering Mt. Hood National Forest Land. A perfect getaway for couples looking to spend a romantic weekend in the woods or a home-base for those who are here to enjoy everything Mt. Hood has to offer. Hiking, fishing, skiing are only minutes away! The Space: Carefully curated and thoughtfully designed, this little cabin is decorated with art and furniture from local artisans. The cabin has an open floor plan with an extra cozy sleeping loft equipped with a queen sized bed, comfy reading chair and a TV for watching movies. The living room has a comfortable plush sofa and perfect views while lounging by the wood-burning stove. The kitchenette offers you everything you need to dine-in — an electric oven/range, toaster, and coffee maker. The outside space features a large outdoor fire pit with beautiful views of the forest and ZigZag mountain. For groups with three guests -- additional linens, pillows and blankets will be provided upon request for the sofa (not a pull-out, but comfy to sleep on -- great option for those traveling with children). Also, in the summer months, there is plenty of room to pitch a tent outdoors. Neighborhood: There are several lakes, rivers and hikes just a short drive away. We are less than 1 mile from the ZigZag and Sandy Rivers. The Salmon River Trail is one of my favorite hikes and it's only few miles down the road (it's also great spot for fishing, too). There are tons of hikes within a few miles and we are located right near the ZigZag Ranger Station where you can pick up free trail maps and get recommendations from the rangers of the best options for your daily adventure.  We are very close to all your winter adventures -- skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing sledding and snow tubing. Ski Bowl only a short 10-15 minute drive down Highway 26 and Mt. Hood Meadows and Timberline Lodge are both about a 20-25 minute drive. If you are feeling up for a round of Golf, you can play 27 scenic holes of golf at the Resort at the Mountain or take a few hours to relax and rejuvenate at their full-service Spa. The Thriftway grocery store is just a mile down the road and there are also a handful of great restaurants nearby. Just across the highway is the Skyway Bar and Grill, well known for their tasty BBQ and Mac and Cheese -- they also have live music two or three times a week. Other things to note: ***Please note -- The drive up from the road to the cabin is steep. You WILL need an AWD  or 4WD to get to the top in a vehicle (we have a VW Tiguan and make it up fine). If you have a 2WD car, there will be a cargo sled to haul your belongings up the hill. It's approximately 200 ft. from the road. **We will provide wood for one night. Additional wood can be purchased at the Thriftway or Mt. Hood Grocery,  both are one mile down the road. *There is a steep loft ladder that leads to the bedroom. Not recommended for those who have trouble climbing. Guest interaction: We live on the adjacent property, so we are there if you need us - otherwise you'll enjoy your privacy.

Our weekend getaway at Susan's little cabin was absolutely perfect. We are already planning another trip to stay there again. It was nice to have a comfortable place to relax after trekking around the Hood area. The amenities were all we could have asked for, with a little stove top for cooking, a nice hot shower and clean towels to warm us up after a cold day of hiking on the mountain, and a cute little wood burning stove to add to the ambiance. The place was stocked with cooking utensils and pots and pans and dishes and silverware so we didn't have to worry about anything but the food. The bed was quite comfortable and we both slept well both nights we were there. Thank you Susan for the lovely getaway.

The cutest, coziest cabin
My friends and I absolutely loved our stay here. The cabin is darling - cozy and thoughtfully decorated with updated finishes and a well stocked kitchen for a short stay. The outdoor space is well kept and also very cute with the string lights and chairs. It’s also walking distance to the Skyway bar and grill which has live music on their patio and a great vibe. I’d come back here for sure.

Lovely place.
Our family rented the cabin as a getaway gift for our son’s birthday! He and his fiancée absolutely loved it! Beautiful place and property. Susan was fantastic and accommodating! They will definitely go back.
