Cozy and disconnected.
With kids
We had a lot of fun exploring the creek with toddlers and getting a weekend away and disconnected. The site is in a great location close to Spencer where you can refill essentials, many parks, and Ithaca. A beautiful drive from Western New York area!
The cabin is simple and older, having the windows cracked and good weather was great. It’s pretty close to the road (not a lot of traffic), and if you have tents you can set up further back. The water provided was a great help and we made many meals on the stove. We brought a bunch of kitchen stuff but the basics were there too. The boat was fun to look at, but the porches attached were pretty slippery, we didn’t really need that space and the site was plenty big for hanging out around it. The outhouse served its purpose well and was pretty clean. The generator to power the electricity for the cabin was noisy (I think it was a temporary replacement one) and we were there a while so we needed to refill the gas, NBD. The futon was comfy and we’d recommend bringing your own small air mattresses for the bunks if you need to sleep many. Plenty of instructions and recommendations ahead of time - don’t plan to be on your phones, no service on site which was welcome reprieve!
We loved the fire pit and what felt like a shift of seasons in this cozy site. Hiked up the trail and down the creek. Found fossils, made s’mores. Just what we hoped for in a camping weekend away. Thanks!!
