The tents are located between a 10 acre organic cider apple orchard and a 155 acre nature preserve with a 140' waterfall a 15 minute walk down the well-maintained trail. The cidery is a 5 minute walk and is open Thursday through Monday with food, drinks, and a beautiful view. Orchard and Gorge Tents at South Hill Cider - Sites located at the edge of Ithaca, just 4 miles from the downtown Commons, 1.5 miles from Buttermilk Falls State Park, 3 miles from Ithaca College. The property is 5 miles from Cornell University, 7 miles from Museum of the Earth, and 5.5 miles from Sciencenter. The accommodation is non-smoking. Cute spot - very bare bones.
We booked last minute and although I recommend this tent to others I did find the lack of running water a bit tricky and the neighboring tent is close enough that you definitely hear whoever is staying there. Luckily our neighbors quieted down by 11pm. Mattress is comfy. Very bare bones. Would love if there were a few hooks for jackets and maybe a little set of drawers. Just a few more things would help it feel a little more comfy. Beautiful location. Cidery was awesome. Host was responsive. Rained both nights we were there and it was relatively dry inside. Just a little damp around the edges of the tent. Bathroom is a plastic bag in a toilet - would be nice if it was slightly further from the tent. All in all a good spot to crash for a night. Any longer and a shower/running water would be necessary (for me).

This is a really neat place is far away from the winery to enjoy the great outdoors but close enough to walk to the small restaurant, music, wine and is very aesthetically pleasing. As for the tent remember to bring lamps, bed set, pillows and lighter for fire pit. As you don't have access to water bring a gallon of water or whatever amount you think you might need I found it extra helpful to wash my hands etc. If you travel alone and want the extra secure measurement bring a small lock for your tent, I needed it to be able to sleep comfortably 😊 Enjoy!

The Orchard and Gorge Tent at South Hill Cider offers a rustic, barebones camping experience just steps away from the South Hill cider tasting room. While the canvas tent is simple, the site is perfect for customizing to your needs, with a large field nearby for kids or pets to enjoy. The highlight, however, is the tasting room, offering some of the best hard ciders in the Finger Lakes. We were lucky to visit on a Monday, enjoying delicious food and live jazz. Perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat or a place to crash after indulging in too much cider!
