31Jul'24 Update: The river is low but that exposes the sandbars for setting up your beach chairs and there is ample depth for the swimming hole below the rapids. The wood chip road in to both sites is dry and easily passable by passenger vehicle. If we get a deluge of rain from a hurricane this season, please check in with your host to ensure your type of vehicle won't have difficulty accessing the site. (back to our regularly scheduled campsite description...) Site-1 is located under the trees adjacent to a 3 acre meadow and Christmas Tree farm. Camp above the bank of the Souhegan River in the shade of white pine, shag bark hickory and blue birch while listening to the river tumble over the ledges upstream. In season, enjoy the swimming hole 100 feet from your campsite. On the other side of the privacy fence is a pasture where two horses graze. If you don't like friendly dogs then you'll be better off on site 2 where we can better keep our dog Wilson from dropping in to visit. He loves people too much not to want to greet folks on Site 1. Site-2 is located at the farthest most downstream end of the property and from mid-May to mid-October it is totally private. You'll see nothing from your site except for trees and the river. If you or your dog don't like other dogs, this is the site you want. Still no guarantee Wilson won't visit you, but it's easier to keep Wilson away from this corner of the property. The other side of the river is town conservation land so the only people you're likely to see will be passing by in canoes or kayaks. In the dry season, both sites are a great place to start a float trip and you'll likely have the next 1.5 miles all to yourself since the rapids upstream become unpassable in July and August. If planning a winter trip, just check ahead to ensure your host has finished plowing the access road. If southern NH gets really clobbered with snow, check with your host about the possibility of constructing snow shelters. You are only two traffic lights away from the Merrimack Premium Outlet Mall should you need something to do during inclement weather.

We had a great time! The site was private and very close to the stream. The instructions for accessing the site was very clear too.

Site-2 Souhegan Serenity
It was a great spot with plenty of room for 2 people. It also had a couple of paths that led to the stream. Bob was a great host and you can tell he cares about giving a good experience. I can’t forget to mention how great it was seeing Wilson every now and again.

Site 1- Indian Ledges Overlook
Great camping weekend
My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Indian Ledges Overlook site. The site was great and being next to the river was a bonus. This property offers 2 sites, which are both secluded and away from each other. Our site was spacious and shaded. The fire pit was just the right size and the cooking top, which is attached to the fire pits made it easy for us to cook several meals over the fire. Love it that Bob and Tiny share their property and have created these camp sites. We will definitely be back and look forward to camping here again.

SIte 2 in August
Stayed at site 2 for a weekend in August. Five adults, one baby, two dogs and we had a great time. It was humid and rainy, but we brought two thermacells and kept the river going and the mosquitoes were non-existent (except for a few right at dusk). The site was big enough for three tents plus a pickup truck with Go Fast Camper pop-up. We appreciated the giant tarp over the platform, loo, and picnic table because it did end up raining on our last day. The path down to the river is easy and we enjoyed floating in the water. We brought floats and could walk a ways up, then float back down a few times. The site was so secluded and peaceful. Site 1 and the hosts home are also on the property but they far enough away that you can't see them. The only noise we heard were a few planes landing at MHT. Wilson the dog came to say hi and we met Bob and Tini in passing. Easy check-in and out. Bob also provides extensive information prior to check-in about everything you could want to know for your camping trip. Highly recommend!
