We saw the northern lights from out tent!! David is a great host and we had a hot shower. We stayed on here before and after our trip to isle royale. It's an easy ride to either ferry. David has a native plant farm and is very willing to share it!
David was a great host, and his property is beautiful. My only criticism, it's not exactly RV friendly (front/side), more suited for small tear-drop campers or pop-ups than full-size rigs. The area where we camped was accessible, but I had to pull it through a row of trees with low-hanging branches. Not ideal, but was able to get it back there and park it on the grass path. And with our vehicle parked in front of our camper, it was blocking access to the drive leading to the front/side of his property. Which wasn't a big deal, since there were no other guests on the property during our stay. But that could be an issue if other campers were camping nearby and wanted to use that drive to access the property too. Maybe the back of the property would be better for bigger campers since it's off his main driveway (so it's hard to say for sure), and tent campers would have several spots to choose from. Also, the grassy areas were waist-high, so getting around his property meant staying on the paths. But other than that, it was very quiet and beautiful. We took day trips from his property up to Copper Harbor and Houghton/Hancock, which worked out great for us.
This was a fantastic spot and David was a great host. I liked it so much I decided to stay an extra night. My dog loved exploring the mowed paths along the property and the bathroom/shower in the RV trailer was an absolute bonus!
Nice little sheltered spot, freshly mowed, easy to find. Really great to be able to use the bathroom in the RV.
