Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
There’s nothing quite like the southern coastal area of Maine. It may be a relatively short drive from most of New England, but it’s far from ordinary. There are beaches and inlets to explore, thick pine forests, one-of-a-kind treasures and crafts, and much more – and located in the heart of it all is Huttopia Southern Maine. A deep freshwater pond and mature forest set the stage. Choose from our Trappeur and Canadienne tents with a wooden structure and canvas tent to fit your needs and enjoy the surroundings. Everything you need is here. Get the experience of nature with all the comfort of your home. Our bistro is available with fresh, handmade foods, so you can enjoy a paddle, a swim in our heated pool, a yoga class or game, or hop in the car for a beach excursion to nearby Kennebunkport or Ogunquit.

Perfect stay!!! I almost don't want to write this review in fear of future unavailability in reservations. The staff goes above and beyond and the grounds and accommodations are perfect for glamping. My only complaint is the pool was not heated as advertised and far too cold for weekends in late September/early October.

Skip the Canadienne Tent for Fall
With pets ·
Overall, we had an okay experience at Huttopia. It definitely could have been better. We booked the Canadienne tent, which I did not know at the time is literally the only type of lodging at Huttopia that does not have its own bathroom. I am not opposed to using a bath house by any means, but this bath house was open-air at the top and quite chilly in the fall weather. Not only that, but there was not hot water so taking a shower was either a miserable experience or just not possible. When I have glamped elsewhere, part of the allure is that you get an actual bed. While the pictures may show a bed, this did not have an actual mattress and was one of the most uncomfortable and lumpy sleeping experiences I have ever had. The tent did had a little heater, but it could only be turned on for up to 30 minutes at a time. I think if you can sleep under any conditions or are just going in the summer, this is a good place to book. However, we will be unlikely to return. If we do visit Huttopia in the future, I will make sure to book a tent that has its own bathroom (if in fall weather) and one of the few tents that has a real mattress.

Highly recommend a trip to this incredible and family-friendly campground! The Canadienne Tent is very spacious - basically three rooms in one tent - and the Huttopia team has thought of everything form a grill outside to dishes, towels, and a clothing rack inside. Their team is thoughtful and communicative, there are activities available to campground guests throughout the day / evening (s'mores, movies, etc.), the shared bathhouse is clean and convenient, and the campground location is ideal - just 45 minutes from Portland and 20 minutes from beautiful beaches. Definitely have a croissant with breakfast! They were delicious.
