Located just outside of Portland Maine, in the city of Westbrook. Our property is about 2 acres with another 6 acres behind it. Highland lake is a half mile away with a carry in boat launch for kayaks, canoes and paddle boards. There are many hiking trails less than a half a mile away including a new land to sea trail. Local beaches are about 20 minutes to a half hour away. The city of Portland is 15 minutes away and the White mountains and the Appalachian trail in Maine is anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half away. Lots of lake streams and fun things to do in the areaEasy camping in 1.5 acre of land. Lots of trees for privacy. We have gardens with raspberry, blueberry plants, and a green house too. Swings, fire pit and fun things to do nearby.. There are so many lakes and rivers nearby to enjoy. Portland (Thompson point) or the beach is less than 20 minutes away. Great restaurants in Westbrook including Lenny's restaurant. 5 minutes away or the Frog and Turtle in the downtown both with great food and live music! Also a good stopping spot for a night before heading north to the Mountains, Bar Harbor or Rangley Please message us a day before coming. So we can get all the info to you. It's a pretty easy place to maneuver, set up your tent and figure things out. New outhouse this year.

Firepit. There maybe kindling wood to burn to start your fire. You can purchase firewood across the street. It's on the honor system from my neighbor. Please only use a small fire pit. And make sure it's taken out with the hose at night. If it is very dry there may be a do not use sign

Firstly I will say I disagree with a review stating this wasn't a private site. James's hipcamp is located well away from the busy Portland area and is great for those arriving by bicycle. Everything was provided in the listing including power. James was a responsive host and made my stay go much more smoothly. Lastly make sure to look for a red barn if arriving at sunset/nighttime.

Value Campiing Near Portland
Tent
Very simple backyard camping for fair price near Portland Maine. Nature sounds. They have a good fire pit but it rained so couldn’t try. This isn’t deep woods camping but great alternative to horrible expensive hotel!!

Backyard in the suburbs of Portland
Tent
Very overpriced for a spot in the backyard of a fairly residential neighborhood. Tent site was in line of sight from at least one if not two of the neighbor's houses. My vehicle was blocked in by their personal vehicle. I would be surprised if they had more than an acre of land. Only view was that of the neighbor's house. Not my typical experience with a HipCamp site and probably shouldn't be one.

I loved the site! It was really calm and the spot is amazing. James responded to every questions we had and was super friendly. Approximately 20 minutes from the beach, it’s perfect for someone who wants calm while still being able to go to the ocean. I recommend!
