This is a horse ranch so you can sleep in the company of horses or in the woods with them in the distance ( check if available/storm damage). We have rolling hills, beautiful views from the hill tops, valley with creeks and a waterfall when not in dry or draught and an abundance of wildlife. Also we're located 5-10 minutes from mammoth cave park border, hike, bike and horse trails, river, lake, blue holler atv park and so much more. If you are sensitive to animal noises you may bring earplugs. There isn't a bathroom/ shower house yet so we ask that you bring a port-a-pot of some sort. We're constantly making upgrades to the Ranch so we hope you enjoy your stay. Please refrain from feeding the horses or dogs because it creates a bad habit and folks that don't know how sensitive a horses gut is can possibly kill them. Respect privacy of others and pack out all that you pack in. Shut any gates you come through.please understand that my horses are of all ages and that includes young ones and babies and seniors as well. The young ones like to be nosey and are still learning what they are allowed to do and what not to do. They are naturally curious and love attention. If they think you have snacks , they can act like a pack of kindergarteners with the promise of cupcakes...we don't want that but because some campers think they are the exception and gave them snacks, it is something we have to monitor more closely. Remember they are animals and they will get into anything if it's left unattended. Please be a responsible camper and ensure we all stay safe and enjoy the experience. We have a section for folks to park in if they do not want to be so close to the horses as well. If you don't like horses or dogs please consider alternative camp site. Limited pet allowance...check before booking please. Also, we've had issues with the site and it offering horse time, ride, Q&A etc. for 5$. We've taken steps to fix this. But if you would like something like that it would be through the Ranch directly and as our time allows. Thank you for taking the time to read everything as well.
Dragonfly Ranch offers a unique camping experience where guests can immerse themselves in the serene beauty of nature, surrounded by friendly horses and a welcoming host. The property is praised for its beautiful views, the companionship of horses and dogs, and the proximity to Mammoth Cave. While most reviews highlight a positive experience, a few mention concerns about the dogs needing vet care. Overall, the site provides a peaceful setting ideal for families and animal lovers seeking a memorable outdoor getaway.
We camped out in the field and loved seeing the horses and dogs. The location was close to nice hikes and places to eat. Also, we didn’t see a single mosquito while camping, which we didn’t fully appreciate until camping elsewhere in the area.
We had a great time staying at the ranch. Both the sunset and sunrise were beautiful and the property had great views. Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet Tonya as she was under the weather, but her husband was able to explain to us how to open the gate onto the field. The horses weren't out while we were there at all, but we were able to see them inside their pen. The dogs on the property are super sweet and friendly but they definitely need vet care, they're covered in fleas and at least two of them have bloat. There was a family camping on the property near the water hole as well. We loved waking up to the sounds of all the neighboring farm animals. Overall we had a lovely time!
Awesome host. Good location but also private. Site could be cleaned up a little but it fit our needs perfectly. Host was very accommodating to helping my children learn to ride horses which was a highlight for them. Neighbors we saw were very friendly and location felt safe
Overall we had a great experience! The land is beautiful and we were instructed where to go upon arrival. No one else was camping near us so that was nice. The site is 45 minutes from Mammoth Cave. Unfortunately the horses were never out of their enclosure the duration of the trip. We were present at the campsite late Friday night, Saturday morning and mid afternoon to evening, and then Sunday morning. The dogs provided great company though. However, one of them seemed to have either mange or fleas that needs to be treated.
I had a great experience here with my family! I came out here with my two little girls to go camping under the stars and see some horses and got both in spades! Tonya is the epitome of southern charm, a great pleasure to chat with, and very helpful whenever I needed anything. We got to see and interact with the horses as much as we wanted as well as some cute pups who played with my girls, found a great spot to set up some hammocks to camp, and enjoyed some quiet nature respite. I would definitely come back here the next time I am camping in the area.
