Secluded country living on a beautiful 35 acre farm minutes from the town of Smyrna & Dover area. Private and separate entrance area for that perfect getaway! Across from Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge where there is plenty of sightseeing, hiking, or birdwatching...the sounds of nature when you stay at this unique place. Observe Barn & Tree Swallows, Eastern Bluebirds, and Purple Martins and more! Close to Big Oak park & literally down the road from Woodland Beach. Dont be surprised if you are greeted by a few of the rescue kitties that reside on the farm. Quiet, peaceful, safe & relaxing farm environment. Absolutely stunning view to wake up to!'Kamping with the Kitties' was created to help with expenses for feral and abandoned cats. The farm provides a safe environment and 'fur-ever' home for unwanted feline friends. There are approximately 25 cats throughout the farm, and you will likely be greeted by a few of the more friendly kitties. The campsite is a flat grassy open field that can accommodate a tent and truly roughing it or having the luxury of an RV camper. Guests will enjoy approximately 3 acres of open field surrounded by agriculture farmland that is currently growing corn. Guests are more than welcome to walk the perimeter of the planted fields. You will see and hear the sounds of the Purple Martins that nest and raise their young in the gourd bird houses. They migrate in the spring every year from South America. There are no specific designated campsites, and please note that there may be other campers within the open field area. There are no electrical, water, or sewer hookups at this site, but potable water is available at the main residence if needed. There are no bathroom amenities here. Guests will need to be self-contained, take waste with them, and leave no trace. All proceeds benefit the care and food for the cats. *Please Note: There are available spaces to camp in a more shaded and wooded area (see attached photos). However, it's not unusual to have mosquitoes, deer flies, or possible ticks that inhabit those areas during the summer season. The agriculture fields are sprayed for insects. However, there is no guarantee, and it's recommended to provide your own insect repellent during your stay.

Tent
Nice open space to camp with very little light pollution. Lots of stars. Kimberly, the host, was great! We almost snuck a cat home with us.

Purrrrfect weekend with the cats
5 m car
We were greated by Kimberly and Melvin (Melvin the cate is the real host ☺️). Kimberly was really helpful, she bring us fresh water and explained to us all about the feral cats and her project to help them. It was easy to setup our camp in the open field. The weather was super nice so we were able to enjoy the nature. Melvin spent the weekend with us what a treat.

MORE than a simple field.

The descriptor of the simple "open field" offering were clear and correct. BUT, Kimberly offered so much more with her personal text messages - e.g. making firewood and drinking water available along with apologies for a "just-announced, next-door, next-morning geese shooting event". We had zero problems AND invited fellow campers from France to enjoy S'mores & conversation at our fire. Indeed the cats were friendly; one enjoyed each of our laps.

This place is awesome! I got to meet many of the cats and even had one stay in the van with me all night. The area is quiet and secluded and felt very safe. I will def be back!
