Mystical Mount Shasta

This land came to me magically and it is a magical spot. Mount Shasta is a volcano that from one side has a slope like Mt. Fuji, This land is situated on a cat's paw of lava that poured out of the slope on the side about 1/3 of the way up. A native American shaman has determined that the spot on the highest point of the ridge is an ancient ceremonial site. I imagine that it was a place they went to sing songs into the echo chamber. To experience a night on this mountain is an awesome transcendental experience. If you are lucky enough to catch a sunset when thundershowers are moving through Shasta valley, it is almost a religious experience. If lightning is present, it is safer to go to your car because they are quite spectacular but probably dangerous. Sunsets are usually glorious and you have a 360 degree view of the mountain as it changes colors due to the sunset lighting layering out in maroons, deep purples, golds, and bright white snow peak. It is so quiet sometimes it is scary. The Milky Way is glorious especially during meteor showers and moon rises sometimes are outlined by the mountain. Great photography! Perfect for spiritual earth ceremonies but requires an exception to the usual camping agreement if higher numbers of people are planned. I'm cool, so we can come to a mutually acceptable agreement. However, if people start trashing up the place I will have to close it, because I'm not doing this for the income, I want to share it with others.

Mt. Shasta Ceremonial Site
Nice spot with great views
This spot is fairly secluded with minimal traffic and noise. There are some other properties around this site, but they were pretty out of sight + mind for me. I spent a lot of time hiking up the rocky ridgeline that starts at the site (I think I was at site #3 at the end of the property). The view of Mt. Shasta is excellent, and watching the sun set in the other direction from the ridgeline was spectacular. Bring a packable table and chairs, because there is nothing at the site.

This place is truly amazing. It is very scenic and gives you a straight view of the mountain to wake up and fall asleep to. This was my first time solo camping and I am happy that I chose this spot for the experience. When I first arrived I spoke with William over the phone to clarify that I was on the correct property. He was very direct while also super helpful and after speaking with him I could tell how much he cherishes this piece of land. If you decide to choose this place as your next camping destination, you won't regret it. Keep in mind that this is a no frills type of camping spot which means you bury your own waste, pack your trash, and there are no fire pits (don't build your own).

This site was very pretty and had wonderful views of Mt. Shasta. I would highly suggest being careful as I did experience changing a flat tire (on a 4wd truck) in the cold rainy weather. The drive leading up to the site is rather bumpy and narrow and there are very few road markings, letting you know where to go. William’s directions were thorough, however it would be warming to have some sort of confirmation that you have arrived on site. When calling William, it seemed the tone of our conversation had more frustration as I had called him. I would rather him welcome me to his site. Use caution when calling.

Squatters on land
I did not end up staying due to a bunch of squatters being on the land. I had to drive the next town over and find a motel due to it being a holiday weekend. There was an RV and people and cars and a dog on what was suppose to be a secluded area. I called the landowner and he was a bit condescending about it all and argued no one was there. The turn in could be more easily marked with a stripe of paint on the tree or something, and simpler, concise directions. I had to read the directions over and over and over again and I still passed the turn in multiple times which was frustrating.

Starry sky and the view to Mt Shasta were amazing! The description was accurate, and the place was easy to find with the instructions (I searched and saved it on Google Maps beforehand). Conveniently close to the north side trails of Mt Shasta Wilderness.

Majestic View! Beautiful land!
The site was very beautiful, we stayed at campsite two in a tent for more privacy from the road although there were not many cars. We loved hiking around the area in the morning and if you want to trek your gear in, campsite 3 looked amazing! I would recomend some sort of shade structure at campsite two if you plan on being there during the heat of the day and earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Wonderful star gazing!
