Now open for group camping! Black Oak Ranch has hosted music festivals on our beautiful 150 acre property for more than 30 years, including The Hog Farm Pignic, Earthdance, Kate Wolf Music Festival, and the Hog Farm Hideaway. Conveniently located just off of Highway 101 in Mendocino County, Black Oak Ranch offers beautiful flat campsites full of majestic old oak trees, leafy bay groves, and Ten Mile Creek which is perfect for cooling off on hot summer days. Black Oak Ranch is home to an abundance of wildlife including deer, raptors, and our newest residents, two families of beavers!
Always a beautiful area. Trees were just beginning to change and the stars were so bright! Lots of bird songs and turkeys roaming around to keep us company!
This was the perfect, easy stop for the night for us and our SUV and 20’ trailer. We stayed in site 3, parked between two big trees with tons of space around us. It was peaceful. We arrived in the evening and there was no one around so we just settled ourselves and left the next morning. Porta potties were super clean, a nice bonus. Sadly the creek/pond weren’t swimmable, likely due to drought. I’d definitely stay again overnight, and it would be great for a group of friends!
I liked that it was not far from 101 because it made it easy to find with little cell service in the area. The car sounds were nothing compared to city street sounds I’m used to. Only one other party in a camper van on the large property and our sites were very spread out anyway unlike most campgrounds. Biasha was a lovely host and was texting me as soon as I hit the Reserve button to explain what I needed to know and to answer any of my questions. I’m glad I added the fire bowl for aesthetics. Portapotties didn’t smell, drinking water was convenient. The creek was down to a few puddles due to drought so may have contributed to more mosquitoes.
The town of Laytonville was nice to be near for the market (where I got my tent since the camping was a last minute decision!), tacos and coffee. This camp is hosting festivals this summer I might check out too.
Riverside bluffs is a great weekend get away spot surrounded by awesome things to do. Our spot, site camp #3 was a little rough around the edges, but a beautiful and secluded spot none the less. Yes, you can hear the free way right there but the stars made up for it - best we have ever seen in our lives. The parks and things to do on the guide that they offer were incredible - Richardson grove had a great redwood hike and a beautiful river spot where we swam. The port a potties were clean and new, the drinking water was nice and accessible. It all made for an easy weekend in a beautiful place! Thank you Black Oak Ranch!
Bear Camp was a beautiful and peaceful location. I enjoyed staying there very much. The road noise didn't bother me. I would have liked to stay another night. I would stay there again.
