Ascension Ranch is an off-grid paradise with a unique and ever growing list of features and activities. Family owned and operated, we want to be that breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life that everyone needs. With a serene environment, a healthy mix of farm animals, and good old fashion ranch activities, there's a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy. Some of the things you'll come across at Ascension Ranch include baby farm animals, sheep, goats, cattle, horses, ranch dogs, chickens, equestrian activities, hiking, biking, camping, archery, lake activities, amazing views, access to endless trails around Folsom Lake, grass-fed meats, fresh produce and of course, good company. Staying on the ranch can be as social, or as rural as guests choose. Camp alone, or bring others, whether it be your 4-legged companions or friends and family, we welcome all campers who respect and enjoy the great outdoors as much as we do.

Eagles Nest
Pros: Amazing view, tons of privacy and large campsite at the end of a road so no through traffic. Cons: site was not picked up/checked prior to our arrival. Pile of garbage on the picnic table and around the campsite. Water to flush portapotty didn’t work. In October, lake was very low so it would have been a very long hike to the lake.

Oak Savannah
Loved the doggos and kittens on the property! The bathroom and trash bins made the experience more enjoyable.

Oak Bottom
When we were there is wasn't crowded at all. Loved the animals, rope swings and old wind-mill. Will stay here again. Thanks!

Lakeview Terrace
Solid place to use as a backup when the Peninsula Campground is closed for repairs (like it was this year). However, the day use area was still open, so we basically had a private lakeside beach for the day. Bathrooms/water are a bit of a walk from the Lakeview Terrace campsite. As such, plan your morning poops unless you're willing to dig a hole, and maybe bring some jugs to top off your water supplies. If you actually want to see Folsom lake from this campsite, plan on attending in spring/early summer, otherwise the lake will be too low. Lastly, Anna Banana (the dog) is a big old sweetie and will do a damn fine job of making sure your campsite is varmint free. Overall, solid experience. 8/10, would recommend.

Eagles Nest
We had a great experience camping at the Eagle’s Nest. It’s comfortably located and has amazing views, especially during sunset. Plenty of things to do around, lots of hiking trails and a really short drive to the lake. We’d love to come back one day!

Hold your HORSES!
Animal experience
We really enjoyed staying at this Ranch! I wanted to leave some recommendations for other people coming to the site… The hold your horses spot is very nice, and it’s pretty private, we never got horses next to our tent, but we went to see them and the trainer let us give them food ( good to know that the tours are $150 a/h). I recommend bringing a big umbrella or something to cover you form the sun because there is not a lot of shade in the camping area. The restrooms are a little far away walking distance, but in car is pretty fine. The lake that is in the property is really cool and also private! Just be aware of leeches, they are super small and hard to see. The American riven is very close by and it’s wonderful to swim there. And if you love animals this is the place to go! We saw a lama in 2 properties before the camp site. But overall it’s a beautiful place to stay in! Totally worth it.
