Description

On a bluff overlooking the stunning Warm Lake, Picnic Point Campground is one of Boise National Forest’s best overnight spots. Towering ponderosa pines provide shade for swimmers, fishers, and hikers at an elevation of 5300 feet (drink lots of water and be wary of your beer count). To access the lake for boating, you’ll need to use neighboring Shoreline Campground’s ramp, and those seeking lakeview campsites should arrive early. These rustic tent-only spots are on dirt pathways with no electricity, ranging from 50-200 feet from the parking area. Off-road enthusiasts will want to hit up Telephone Ridge Trail No. 112 for 20 miles of trails, while more low-key campers can sunbathe at Billy Rice Swim Beach just a short walk from the campgrounds. Also near the grounds, you’ll find the historic North Shore Lodge with a small restaurant, lounge, and supply shop—just be bear-aware when deciding what foods to bring back to your site!
