Hōlua Campsite is a wilderness camp at 6,940 feet in the native shrubland near Koʻolau Gap.

It’s accessible by hiking 3.7 miles down the Halemauʻu Trail or 7.4 miles from the Sliding Sand Trailhead. You will need a permit to camp here and water is non-potable, so it’s best to carry in what you’ll need. If it’s stormy, winds can exceed 80 miles per hour with temperatures dropping well below freezing. Groups are limited to 12 people max. head here.

How cool is it to sleep at the bottom of volcanic crater? If you're on the island, check this out - the sunrises are unreal.
